Can anybody ID this fan?
This 5 blade clutch fan was in the trunk of my 68 Custom coupe and I am trying to figure out what it is for. I took some pictures of measurements on it. It has a "W" stamped on the back, and the front has "FRONT" and "H" stamped on it. I believe this clutch is called schwitzer style. I didn't see a stamped code anywhere on it.

Re: Can anybody ID this fan?
The fan itself is very typical of '59- up but the clutch is a mystery. I have one like that myself.

Re: Can anybody ID this fan?
Looks like all the correct measurements to be one of the hard to find 67-68 Z28 style fans.
4 rivet blades, 3 1/4" bolt centers, 2 /5/8" center hole, and the correct style schwitzer clutch. Cha-ching! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |
Re: Can anybody ID this fan?
Isn't that one of them "junk" 67 Z, L-78 and other square port hipo fans...??? I'll take it off your hands if you need to get rid of it, ok...:)
Seriously though..didn't Charley sell one of them for $3500 or some ridiculous figure a while back?? |
Re: Can anybody ID this fan?
I think the fan blades with the "W" stamped on it were for Hi-Perf cars with short water pump.
When I had my '68 Nova...I was told me that that was the correct blade for a high horse BB. I could be wrong...it's happened before. Believe it or not! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Kurt |
Re: Can anybody ID this fan?
Thanks for the info. Is it possible that this is the original fan from the car (68 L72 Impala)? I always thought this engine used an eight blade..

Re: Can anybody ID this fan?
What's the diameter of the entire fan itself...17"...17-1/2" or 18"?

Re: Can anybody ID this fan?
I am just curious. Who owns the red car you are trying to scratch?

Re: Can anybody ID this fan?
The fan is 18" at its widest point. Lynn, that's my 92 Z34 5 speed beater.

Re: Can anybody ID this fan?
That fan you have is correct for the l72 Impala. The 7 blade "1002" fan was used mid and late 68. I have found this fan used on alot of Chevelles with the small block and big block with AC. Probibly more applications.
