Re: Michigan drag racing early 70s
I have a car formerly owned by a stock eliminator record holder out of Michigan. I don't know much about his other cars, except that he ran a Nova, and a Camaro. Racer's name was Dick Ross, and he's in the Michigan motorsports hall of fame. I have some possible leads that I'll send you when I get home from work tonight.( After I shovel today's snowfall!)

Adam,
The Dick Ross 69 Nova was called "Protest Two". I have contacted the current owner of the car to see if it might be the one you are looking for. Marc |

Adam...Any luck with Jerry? |
Re: Michigan drag racing early 70s
Thanks guys. I spoke with Dick's son last night. He also remembers a B/stock Nova that they raced successfully for a year and then sold.
I found this on the Mich Motorsports HofFame: Running in every class from Street Stock to Top Fuel during his racing career, Dick has set or broken over 30 World Records, his first in 1973 at Lapeer International Drag way, Where in a 1969 Chevrolet Nova, running in the factory stock class, he set a time of 11.69. In 1976 he broke that World Record that he had set by turning a time of 11.237 at Detroit Dragway. Dick set numerous track records. I am trying to see what the HofFame has in terms of record keeping and info on his cars. Apparently he ran a few novas like High Times, Protest 2 and some unnamed cars. |
