I'd expect it's one of the Nova specific blocks w/ the recessed oil filter that's req'd...'362' casting or?.

Hello, Thanks. I have 327's out the wazzo. I need a 362 or a 721 block the way I understand it with the recessed oil filter. Maybe someone can educate me. Do I need a recessed block in a 66 with a PG transmission and factory exhaust manifolds. I'm told that the recessed block is for 4 speed Z bar clearance only which I do not have. Thanks, Larry.

You don´t need the Nova-block for clearance using a PG transmission and factory exhaust manifolds. I hade a 1969 350 block with a PG and factory manifolds in my -66.
The 4-speed Z-bar needs the Nova-block because of the mounting hole down by the oilpan.

Anders is correct........."Z" bar clearance only......But...I used a normal block in my 66 when it had a 4 speed in it......I made my own "Z" bar and had no troubles, just had to use a short oil filter https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

I have one carb to pan 67 but it's pricy.
