4 speed reverse lock out on BB Nova Camaro

Has anybody found a way to run a factory reverse lock out set up on a BB Nova/Camaro with headers.? (Specifically Hooker comps)I like having the reverse lights, but have to turn the steering column collar to turn them off/get the ignition key out (70 BB Nova)I have a Hurst and was wondering if the Hurst reverse light switch kit is any good and easy to install w/o butchering factory harnesses. Would love to somehow get the factory linkage to work, but don't know if that is possible. Thanks in advance

There isn't space for the rod,Even on a SB .Just use the Hurst set-up and run wires to the column switch wires .

Don't think it will work Sully. Just remove the back-up lamps and you are good to go. Turn your steering column to the left by hand and it will more or less stay in that position for your key movement. My camaro has been like that without the BU lamps in and lockout rod since 2000. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

I made mine work on my 69 z with headers. If I had a 69 Big Block I'm sure I could make it work too.

I haven't figured out a way to make it work (factory 396 w/Hooker Comps), and then I lost interest in trying.

Our 70 L78 4spd Nova had headers (small tubes) and the light/rod worked fine...i think the big tubes may be the problem...not sure. It worked with the factory "Mungie" shifter and the Hurst Comp. Plus...header style may be a factor.
