LS6 TH400 transmisssion

My Ls6 has the original drivetrain with a TH400 and 3.31 rear. It seems like this converter has much more slippage then what I would think normal. At 60 MPH I am taching 3000+/-. Is this normal? Everything shifts properly and under WOT it does not shift until 6500rpm/ Fluid is pink and clean with no burning what so ever.

Assuming you have a stock converter and stock tire size your RPM's at 60 mph with 3.31 gear should be less than 3 grand...more like 2600-2800 from my experience.

Car is absolutely stock and original. Tires are repro F70x14 bias ply wide ovals.

Any chance you can try another tach for comparison...maybe just hook up a steering wheel mount unit and lay it on the seat for comparison. Has the car always been like this or has it just started....???

And shifting properly means it's not hanging up like a sticking kickdown acts w/ higher revs before the shifts occur?.

Another thought on WOT shift...is 6500rpm's a little high..?? Our L78 auto cars with 3.55 gearing upshift around 6200...maybe it doesn't matter https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif

On a similar note, anyone know who rebuilds these CX/CY converters to stock specifications?
