Ed,
I found what I believe is a Julian date on the automatic brake self-adjuster. In my car it has 093 stamp painted on both the left and right sides which crosses over to April 3, 1969 which is the build date for my BV rearend. I saw this same type of stamp in pictures that Brian from SCW posted a while ago. That got me to look a little harder at what I had. I may be wrong on this but I would guess the backing plates were assembled off the rearend and then installed before the axles and the rear cover. My question for John Z would be about the painting process of the rearend. Would the E brake cables, hard and soft brake lines have been on the rearend before the paint was applied? Mike |
