I love looking at this car. I can live with the added side pipes.

Burning my leg on the sidepipe would be a problem I would love to have !!
Beautiful car. |
Burnt my leg on a mid-year side pipe as a youngster back in the ‘70’s. I can STILL feel/hear/smell that terrible experience to this very day.

The factory sidepipes really don't get so hot they are dangerous. Now the hooker sidepipes will really hurt you.
|
NCRS will most likely call the sidepipes if you bring it for judging.
|
Midyear Vettes are one of the the few cars that look good with sidepipes.

The factory pipes can't burn you if they are installed correctly. It's time consuming to get the clearance right between the pipe and the insulators. Some people take out the insulators and if the pipe touches the aluminum anywhere, then it gets hot.
I suspect this car doesn't have that problem. For a resto of this caliber, the hood and headlight fits are not very good. I am quietly looking for another 435, and this one gets disqualified on that point alone. Major credit to the seller for beautiful photos of the pad, tags and inside the fenders. A lot of guys don't do it. Despite the awards, something seems "off" about that pad to me. I feel like the sequence numbers are just spaced too far apart. It's probably good, and has an "appears OEM" BG, so it's probably fine. |
The restorer matched the gaps that the factory built the car with. Lot of the gaps from the factory were off. Most of the 67 buyers didn’t care or notice.
