1972 Chevelle SS454 LS5 brake booster and components

Does anyone know the number that should be stamped on the top tab of the brake booster on an LS5 in 1972?

I think I have the original booster. Its stamped 159 on the front facing tab, which I know is the date of June 7th.
The back of the tab has 1929 stamped in it.

So are 1972 boosters 1929??

Also the master cylinder appears to be a replacement. What would be the correct one for this car?

Its a 1972 Chevelle SS454 LS5 4 speed convertible. I have looked all over the internet and it seems no definative answer for the 72 boosters.

One more thing, this booster doesnt have any Delco Moraine stamping on it. I still think its the original.

Also should the master cylinder have a 2 letter stamping on the front boss?

1972 LS5 vert 4 speed.....NICE!
Maybe someone will jump in on the Booster date for a 72 Chevelle. I should know but I can not remember off the top of my head. As far as the MC you are correct, it should be the square 409 type with "BB" stamped on the front.

Fully squared off "BB" stamped master cylinder was 1970 only and w/Bleeders.

My 72 Nova still has it's original booster and master. From what i can read on the booster is #1962 at the rear with a 409 master and ( no ) two letter code with two bleeders. Has Delco Moraine right side up in upper right corner of booster. I think that a Chevelle would have been the same as a Nova. My Nova is a July 72 late built car. Looks like they didn't two letter code the masters in 72...

I will have to go back and look at the MC on my old 72 LS5 Vert. It did have a stamp on the front pad. It could have been "BE" and I am just about sure it did have bleeders.
It was an April build Leeds car. It has been a long time since I have messed with a 72 so my memory is fuzzy. I'll try to dig through some old pic and see what I can find.

Thank you for all the responses! Its very helpful.

This car is a Kansas built 06D car so its a late car. The 159 date on the booster coincides with the build date. Im almost certain this is the original booster even though it doesnt have the Delco Moraine stamping.

Im going to send it in for a rebuild. I will also need get the correct 409 master for it.

Im just going through everything under the hood right now. Car has complete original drivetrain.

I know I will have alot more questions on other things. It looks like it has a Harrison 4 core radiator out of an auto trans car. Its got BB on one of the tanks with no tag on it. Im sure thats not original.

Im guessing thats not going to be an easy find either!!

Joe, good to hear you have a 72 LS5 also. I may need to pick your brain alot!! :D
