What do you guys make of the engine stamp? Can't say I have ever seen broach marks quite like that - they don't even look to be parallel - maybe it's the angle of the picture?

Those are not broach marks...

It’s amusing that the seller draws attention to the “broach” marks in the auction description as a sign of authenticity….

I'm pretty sure that broached surface is machined in the same operation as the surface where the head gasket is supposed to seal to the block.....can you imagine a gasket trying to seal against that surface? :haha:

The pad in discussion looks like it was done with a belt sander :eek2:

Finally, someone selling a car on eBay learned to photograph a pad properly.
