That is different.

Considering costs to replace missing Original drivetrain, Electrifying it w/ a Tesla or whatever donor vehicle would well suit today’s E-hungry world also seem almost forgivable to Ferrari purists?:hmmm::dunno:
:beers:

Wow!!

What is the story on the engine swap?

tom406 04-26-2024 02:49 PM

In the late 90s/early 2000s, 365GT 2+2's didn't bring enough money to justify full $$ V12 rebuild costs or comprehensive restoration. The V12s were also pirated for other Ferrari projects (like all the SS427 Impalas that became donors for Chevelle and Camaro projects). So what do you do with a decent engine-less Ferrari without cutting it up?

Lynn 04-26-2024 04:28 PM

I get it. These cars can bring upwards of $300k now. I passed on a very nice original example in 1999 for $35k. What a dumbass!

I like the idea of one of the posters on BAT who said to get a cheap Maserati Quattroporte and grab the engine out of it. Same lineage and a close sound for short money.

Lynn 04-26-2024 10:21 PM

Probably the cheapest V12 would be getting an old BMW 750i.

Pull the Northstar and install a LS.
