1987 SS Monte Carlo 3000 miles,with a twist

I purchased this car about six months ago, It was purchased new from Jay's Village Chevrolet in Fayettville New York. It was ordered without AC but had PS,PW, and bucket seats. It now has just over 3000 miles on it. With just 5 miles on the clock the engine, trans and rear were pulled in favor of an aluminum head 427, turbo 400 and a Currie 9 inch Ford rear, I know its not a Super car but sure has an interesting story. The only thing I have done is add a set of 2" drop spindles, lowering springs on the rear, and a set of RC Comp wheels to set it off a bit. I's been a fun car so far and of course the story is as much fun as the car.

Neat. How about some under hood pics?

The MCSS was not available without Air conditioning

Frank, I believe it was included in all of the option packages but there was a delete code for it. Same goes for the radio.
Cool car, we'll need some more pics. |
Great looking car. Just wondering, when you lowered it did you reset the pinion angle and check the drive shaft length? Lowering these cars can change the pinion angle quite a bit, and the 9 inch has such a low pinion that changing the pinion angle really affects the drive shaft length.

It didn't have quiet enough angle initially and it wound up about 4.5 degrees down when finished, it's a touch much but not bad enough to cause me to change it. It had a custom drive shaft and it did not cause any length issues lowering it.
