67 Pace Car
This one is confusing. First, I wouldn't buy anything from SMT, given their reputation.
But, they claim this is a "real pace car" that originally came with a 350, and now has a 70 396. But look at the trim tag. Guessing this is a fake tag? I can normally spot the 69 fake tags, but am not up to speed on 67. Wouldn't this vin be a June build? Also, just noticed the bondo coming up over the VIN plate in the door jamb. Underside is a train wreck? O 1 for Paint code, but O wasn't used in 67. Would be Corvette Bronze in 68. Should be C 1 for a pace car. Also, has 4K instead of the 4P you would expect if it were a SB car originally. Not to mention someone has no clue how to fit the RS headlight doors. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-Chevro...MAAOSwFHBfz6gx |
0-1 was used in '67 on pace cars
4K was L78 (big block) not sure why it says original 350...? Here's info on an original 0-1 4K car. The only one left is down in south Florida. Belongs to my dad. http://camaropacecars.com/eve/forums...5681088166/p/4 |
That's because this is not an IPC. It was one of 12 made for the Canadian Gran Prix.
Tag is repro, added 16+ years ago. None of the 12 were L78. This car was a 327 originally. 124677N236170 |

As Kurt said, the trim tag is bogus. The VIN is correct. Trim tag should read 06C for that car as it was one of the small block 327 cars (non SS) sent to GM of Canada in Oshawa, Ontario. The group of 21 cars (some SB some BB, none L78) were used for the Canadian Grand Prix at Mosport Park in Bowmanville, Ont. After the race these cars were either sold in the paddock or sent to dealers for sale.

Just out of curiosity, were the Canadian pace cars also white with blue stripes and interior?
|
Yes, Lynn. I owned one of the small block RS cars when I was 17 years old!

To clarify: there were 12 L35 396 cars and 10 LF7 327 cars built, for a total of 22.
Jeff Ashen has one of the 396 cars. :) |
