1968 Shelby GT350
Is there a way to tell if it's a genuine GT350 or just a made up Mustang fastback?
Local guy in the sticks is claiming the car is a og GT350 and 99% complete. Been sitting for YEARS. Just like to know some things before I head over and look at it. Thanks, John |
Check the Shelby Registry. I have one for Cobras, but not Shelby Mustangs.

Bottom of the heap for Shelbys, just a J code 302 with an aluminum intake and Holley (at best-iron intakes and Autolites also used) It should have an extra Shelby VIN plate riveted on top of the driver’s fender apron. Some very early cars have a dual serial number system that was soon abandoned. It will have the full Ford VIN plus 5 extra sequential digits. You can also run the Ford VIN that’s on the windshield base and door tag and run a Marti report if that Shelby tag is gone (though you likely won’t want the car if it’s missing). Coralsnake.com is a great 68 Shelby resource. http://www.thecoralsnake.com/Productionchanges

Well I asked for the Marti report and a picture of the Shelby fender tag. Guy comes back ad no report or tag as it IS A CLONE.
Man that is 2 in the last couple weeks. Not even looking for Shelbys just cars that seems to pop up. |
