Presenting a RARE 1970 Chevelle SS 396 L78 375 HP Convertible with a M20 Four Speed Transmission and G80 Posi-Traction Rear End with 3.55 Axle. Color is the very desirable Fathom Blue with White Stripes and a White Parchment Ivory Bench Seat Interior. Car had a scheduled build date of November 21 1969 making this L78 one of the last ones built before they cancelled the L78 motor option. Ordered from the Jonas Chevrolet Dealer in Redmond Oregon. Options include A01 Tinted Windows, A31 Power Windows, B37 Floor Mats, B93 Door Edge Guards, C06 White Power Top, D34 Visor Mirror, NK1 Sport Steering Wheel, N40 Power Steering, ZK9 Light Package (See build sheet for further separate codes), UM1 AM/8 Track Player, U14 Gauges and ZL2 Cowl Induction Hood. That’s one nicely optioned L78 SS 396 ! Built out of the Van Nuys California Plant Only 2,144 SS 396 L78’s were built for the 1970 Chevelle run, taking the total production of convertibles at 2.04% which gives approximately 44 produced, this is one of the RAREST 1970 Chevelle’s out there !

This Car has three original build sheets!! Complete “Born With” Original Drive Train Includes >>> CKF 1029B1 Posi-Traction Rear Axle, T1016CKO L78 375 HP 396 (402) Motor with Vin # by the Oil Filter and P0S10A M20 Transmission with a Vin # stamped. Key components include original GM Dated Smog System, Alternator, Distributor, Pulleys, Carb, XJ Radiator etc…

About the car and some History >>> Paint has been re done in the past many years ago but still presents itself excellent, Body panels and floor are original, Seat Covers were Replaced, Brake Booster replaced but has Correct BB Master Cylinder with the incorrect cap, has the GM over the counter unmarked Plastic Fiber Inner Fender Wheel Housings. I did see this car in Person in 2018 and since then the owner Dan has passed away in February 2019 and I am now helping his wife Tami to find a new owner as the time has come to sell this RARE car. Dan and Tami have owned the car for about 16 Years. Car also comes with a certification and inspection report done by Jerry MacNeish dated 6-4-16 and it was for sale only once before at the Mecum Indy Auction in 2018 but “The Bid Goes On” as it did not meet there reserve.

A turnkey car which means it runs as good as it looks with NO Issues. Inspectors are welcome to look the car over before a buyer purchases the car. Car is Located in Elk City Oklahoma.

Certainly an ultra rare Chevelle in the right colors. Great rear / trans combo with the 3.55 gear coupled with the low first gear of the M-20. GLWS
