Musclecar Photographs mrays
I should call this musclecars and more, but that's too wordy. Most of my photos are of musclecars, but I have some photos of some pretty cool modified vehicles and some fast street legal racecars as well so I might include a few of those. I have literally hundreds of photos, so I'll just post the best cars and photos. I hope you guys enjoy them.
Here are a few musclecars from Super Chevy Indy 2008: E. Coffel's L34 4 speed 66 Chevelle SS. This is a Gold Class car that he showed for a few years on the Super Chevy circuit in the Midwest. The car is in storage now and he has a 67 Chevelle SS street machine that he brings to local cruise-ins occasionally. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_0280.jpg The Landis' L34 4 speed 70 Chevelle SS. This is another Gold Class car that they showed for a couple of years at the Super Chevy shows in Indy and Norwalk. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...e_ss_white.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-img_0301.jpg The Fields' L34 automatic 69 Chevelle SS. He won the Chevelle Stock class that year. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_0249.jpg The Brown's L34 69 Chevelle SS. I've seen this car at a number of Super Chevy and Goodguys events. I believe it was at MCACN as well. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_0344.jpg B. Adcock's 71 Z/28 was a numbers matching 4 speed car with documentation. He won the 2nd Generation Camaro Stock class that year. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_0316.jpg The Myshock's 73 Z/28. He was the R/U in the 2nd Generation Camaro Stock class at Indy then won at Norwalk that year. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_0321.jpg |

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are a few modified vehicles from the same show:
The Crowder's 71 pickup is a factory big block truck and is one of the nicest I've seen of it's generation. It won Best Modified and Best Truck that year. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-img_0256.jpg M. McAllister's 55 Bel Air was a regular at Super Chevy Indy and Joliet. It has a small block with a 4 barrel and was detailed to the max. It won the Best Street Tri-Five that year. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_0261.jpg T. Niesley's 67 Chevelle is an L34 with a 4 speed. This car was featured in the June 2008 issue of Muscle Car Review. I believe this is an original owner car. It won Best Street Chevelle that year. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_0267.jpg S. West's 72 Chevelle SS was another regular at Super Chevy Indy and Joliet. It has a 462 with a Street & Performance EFI setup. It won Best Modified Chevelle, Best Chevelle and Outstanding Engine of the show. This is another car that was always detailed to the max. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_0268.jpg The Osborn's 63 Nova came all the way from NC. It had a bolt on front clip and a small block with a 4 speed. It won Best Modified Nova and Best Nova that year. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_0317.jpg |

Here are a couple of race cars from the same event.
I don't know anything about this 61 Corvette other than that it ran high 9's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1_corvette.jpg The Alford's sleeper 66 Chevy II. This is one of my favorite second gen Chevy II race cars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ova_sb_nos.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_0285.jpg A clean and fast Grecian Green 68 Nova. The owner had a similar Hugger Orange 68 Nova that was a regular at Super Chevy Indy until he wrecked it. This was it's replacement. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ova_bb_nos.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_0281.jpg Dick Messino's "Shake, Rattle & Run" 57 Bel Air driven by Mike Lopez. This car has been around since the 60's. I remember seeing it at Super Chevy Indy in the mid 80's when it had a big block with Hilborn injection and NOS. When this picture was taken it had a nitrous injected 632 and was running high 6's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-img_0295.jpg |

This is R. Hoeft's 62 Impala. It is a numbers matching car with 11K miles. It is a Gold Class car that won Best of Show at this event. It was also at MCACN once. I believe it was a part of the Class of 62 Display. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_0370.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_0368.jpg The Hunsaker's 66 Chevelle SS with an L35 and a powerglide. It won the Modified Monte Carlo class and Best Monte Carlo. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-img_0365.jpg |

Here are a few race cars from the same event.
J. Fleenor's 67 Nova with a 434ci small block and NOS ran high 8's and was a True Street competitor. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...nos_low_9s.jpg R. Tumbry's 68 Nova with a big block is a 9 second street car. This car has been featured in Super Chevy and RPM magazine. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_0383.jpg C. Myer's 70 Malibu was another True Street competitor that ran high 9's. I'm not sure what it had for motivation. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_0401.jpg This Z/24 had an ex Richard Childress Racing SB2 in it with a Lenco and ran 7.80's. Pretty quick for a naturally aspirated small block. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-img_0418.jpg J. Burns' 72 Rallye Nova with a 598 ran mid 9's. You don't see many Rallye Nova's anymore. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_0428.jpg J. Robinson's 71 Z/28 had a 540 and was another mid 9 second street car. This is the "Papa John's" car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_0434.jpg The McGee's 66 Chevy II is one of my favorite second gens. It has a naturally aspirated 406 and runs high 9's in street trim. This car was featured in the Nova annual that Super Chevy puts out. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_0435.jpg Nice 63 Chevy II sedan with a big block that ran high 9's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_0455.jpg |
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are a few muscle cars from the Super Chevy Show in Joliet IL in 2008.
C. Ragland's 69 Chevelle SS L34 4 speed car with chambered exhaust. This is a Gold Class car that was restored back in the mid 90's and was a Super Chevy Show regular for years. This is one of the nicest 69 Chevelles that I have ever seen and that chambered exhaust sounds sweet. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-img_0575.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_0572.jpg The Clinton's 69 El Camino SS L78 4 speed with a bench seat. This car won Gold at MCACN in I believe 2009. It is also up for sale at Mecum in Kissimmee this weekend. It now has red SS stripes down the sides. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_0552.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_0550.jpg D. Walker's LS6 Chevelle. This was a numbers matching car and was a regular at Super Chevy Joliet. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_0536.jpg F. Ingargiola's 70 Chevelle SS L34 with an automatic. This was also a numbers matching car that I saw at the Super Chevy in Joliet several times. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-img_0567.jpg The Hardwick's 69 Z/28 was an X33 car that won the Stock Camaro class that year. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-img_0580.jpg |
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
A few modified cars from the same event.
The Germann's 66 Chevy II with a small block. It had Ram Jet EFI and a bolt on front clip. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_0555.jpg R. Watson's Pro Engineered 66 Chevy II. This car was featured in Super Chevy back in the 90's, but had a few upgrades since then. It has a front hinged hood and I believe suicide doors as well. It also has a supercharged small block with a 4 speed. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_0509.jpg The Bartoli's 69 Camaro had an LS-6 for motivation and a custom interior with a 00 Camaro dash. It won Best Modified Camaro and Best Camaro at the show. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_0571.jpg This 69 Camaro had an LS-2 and was built by Bill Jelinek who has a shop in the Joliet area. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_0577.jpg |
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are a few race cars from the same event.
J. Kosiba's 63 Chevy II is one of my favorite first gen's. It was a True Street competitor and had a 352ci small block with NOS and ran high 8's. This car was featured in Super Chevy and Car Craft. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...va_high_8s.jpg J. Coyle's 63 Chevy II was a regular at Joliet for a number of years. It had a 383ci small block and ran mid 11's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_0522.jpg The Ancel's 65 Malibu is one of the cleanest racecars around. I believe they did most of the work themselves. It had a big block with a Powerglide and ran high 9's. This car was featured in the February 1997 issue of Super Chevy. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics..._malibu_ss.jpg J. Ridings' 71 Chevelle SS is another very clean racecar. It had a naturally aspirated 582 and ran high 8's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...elle_ss_bb.jpg This 68 Camaro had a naturally aspirated big block and ran high 8's. A few years prior to this photo it had a big block with NOS and ran 8.40's. They were making a Saturday night T&T pass and stood it up on the back bumper with all 4 wheels off the ground. I thought it was going to end up on it's roof, but the parachute hit the ground and kept it from blowing over. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_0510.jpg This is one of the nicest early 80's Z/28's I've seen. It had a big block and ran low 9's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_0501.jpg |

Here are a couple of muscle cars from the Super Chevy Show at Indy in 2009.
E. Slone's Royal Plum 67 Chevelle SS L34 with a M20. This is a California built car and has since had the correct California AIR smog system installed. This car was displayed at MCACN, but I don't remember the year. It was also featured in the October 2012 issue of Muscle Car Review. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...le_ss_plum.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...e_ss_plum1.jpg The Patrick's 69 Chevelle SS conv. L35 with a TH400. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...e_ss_green.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics..._ss_green1.jpg The Renshaw's 69 Z/28 RS X33 car with a fold down rear seat. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...z28rs_blue.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...28rs_blue1.jpg |

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are few modified cars from the same show.
R. Massow's 55 210 has a 383 with an M22. This is one of the cleanest 55's around. Whenever he showed up he usually won the modified Tri-5 class. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...210_maroon.jpg The Pederson's 56 won the Best Modified and Best Truck award. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...pickup_red.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ickup_red1.jpg The McLaughlin's 56 had an LT-4. He was the Runner-Up in Modified to the truck above. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...up_yellow1.jpg Bob Meiring's 63 Corvette won Best Pro Street. This is an original 63 Corvette with a 632 and it ran in the high 7's. It was the Runner Up in the Pinks Quick 8 at Indy as well. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...tte_silver.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...te_silver1.jpg The Schutz's 65 Chevy II SS. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ova_maroon.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...va_maroon1.jpg |
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are a couple of race cars from the same event.
Sweet 67 Chevy II that ran mid 10's with a 383 and an NOS plate system. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...va_maroon2.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...va_maroon1.jpg A 67 Chevy II SS with a 440 that was running high 9's without the NOS system. It was a fresh engine and he hadn't sprayed it yet, but was expecting 8's on the bottle. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ova_ss_red.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...va_ss_red1.jpg Nice 71 Chevelle SS with a big block and NOS. Since this car didn't have a roll bar he was only allowed to run 11.50's or slower so he kept shutting it down early. Finally at the end of the day he ran it out the back door with a mid 10 second pass. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-img_1452.jpg |

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are a couple of muscle cars from the Super Chevy Show at Norwalk OH in 2009.
The Rogers' 57 Bel Air conv. with a dual quad 283. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...el_air_red.jpg The McCracken's 66 Biscayne L72. This was an original owner car with 19K miles and has it's original drivetrain. It was a race car early in it's life and had just recently been restored. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6_biscayne.jpg This is J. Duer's 67 L79 Chevy II. It is documented and I believe it has it's original drivetrain. It was a gold class car and has been to MCACN several times. It was featured in the March 2010 issue of Musclecar Enthusiast. This is 1 of 2 known 67 L79 Chevy II's that are documented. They were both built in June of 1967. The other is Grenada Gold with a black vinyl top. It is owned by a collector in the Phoenix area and was being restored the last I knew. R. Hoeft also has a 67 L79 Chevy II that I believe is legit. However, his was built early in the 67 model year and has the 350 horse version of the L79 like the 66's had. His car was at MCACN this past year and there were some photos of it recently in Muscle Car Review with some of the other cars in his collection. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...a_ss_turq1.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...a_ss_turq3.jpg |

Thanks for all the pic's.
Jack Duer's 67 L79 Chevy II is possibly the best restored car I have ever seen. All NOS or OE stuff. I believe it is sold now and living in AZ. Mike |
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
I'm glad you guys enjoy them. I thought Jack had sold his Chevy II, but I didn't remember the details. Definately one of the best restorations I have seen.

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are a few modified cars from the same event.
The Mitchell's 57 Bel Air was a Gold Class car. The color is Sunset Pearlescent Orange and it has a 572 putting out close to 700 horsepower. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...air_orange.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ir_orange1.jpg The Hutton's 59 El Camino. You don't see many of these around. This one has a supercharged small block and won Best El Camino of the show. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics..._el_camino.jpg The Turner's 60 Corvette. Unfortunately I don't had a shot of it's engine. It had a 383 with I believe a Kinsler intake. Instead of having 4 side draft Weber carbs it was fitted with EFI. It won Best Corvette of the show. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics..._vette_red.jpg The Higgins' 64 El Camino. It had a small block with EFI. It won Best Pro Street Truck. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics..._el_camino.jpg F. Armon's 70 Opel GT with a supercharged small block. This is quite the little pocket rocket. There used to be a number of these back when Pro Street was popular, but I don't know if I ever saw any as nice as this one. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...73-70_opel.jpg Jack Stone's 72 Impala with a 434 small block on NOS putting out over 900 horse power. Jack owns First Choice Auto Body in Elkhart, IN and is one of the best paint and body guys in the area. He has painted atleast 6 Gold Class cars and has one of the nicest 69 Chevelle Pro Street cars I have ever seen. It was just featured on the January 2015 issue of RPM Magazine. I haven't taken any pictures of it yet but if you follow the link you can find it on page 56 of the January issue. Jack Stone's 69 Chevelle https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-72_impala.jpg |

A couple of show cars from the Super Chevy Show in Joliet in 2009.
The Schaubel's 52 Fleetline was a Gold Class car and won Best of Show at this event. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...fleetline2.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ine_engine.jpg S. Luethge's 56 210 was also a Gold Class car and was featured in the 2012 edition of Chevy Classics put out by Super Chevy magazine. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...56_210_red.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...red_engine.jpg This is one of the baddest 64 Malibu's I've ever seen. It had a 632 with NOS. It was entered in the show at this event, but the car supposedly ran 8.70's without spray. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...u_ss_black.jpg J. Mygatt's 69 Z/28 RS is the nicest Garnet Red Z I've ever seen. It was a Gold Class regular at Super Chevy events for years. It was at MCACN once too in maybe 2009 or 2010. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...071-69_z28.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...69_z28_rs1.jpg |
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are a few of the Chicago Outlaw Super Stockers. These guess really put on a show and were regulars at Super Chevy Shows in the Midwest. These 7 second wheel standers were real crowd pleasers.
This is R. Vanderwoude's 67 Chevy II SS. It had a 448ci big block and ran 7.70's. This is definitely my favorite Chicago OSS car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...va_maroon1.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ova_maroon.jpg J. Priola's 66 Chevelle SS also ran in the 7.70's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics..._ss_yellow.jpg E. Robles 67 Impala was Granada Gold with a Capri Cream top and had a 632. He also ran 7.70's. This car was featured in the June 2008 issue of Super Chevy. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...pala_gold1.jpg D. Thompson's 68 Camaro had a 509 and ran 7.90's. This was another show quality car like most of the Chicago OSS's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...amaro_blue.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...maro_blue1.jpg D. McCorkle's 69 Camaro ran 7.80's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...z28_silver.jpg |
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are some more racecars from the same show.

It had a 638 and ran 7.50's in street legal trim. I've seen him drive it to local cruise-ins and to the track in this configuration. He has since had the chassis redone and switched to twin turbos. It's now faster and more streetable. Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are some race cars from the same event.
Sweet 63 Chevy II with a 540 on NOS that ran 8.80's. This is one of my favorite first gen Chevy II race cars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_2618.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_8189.jpg I posted one of this 66 Chevy II before, but this is about as low and mean as they get. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_2536.jpg Clean 67 Chevy II SS had a 434 small block and ran low 10's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-img_2613.jpg Nice 69 Nova SS with a big block ran high 8's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_2588.jpg The Gambino's 69 Camaro had a big block and ran high 9's. Apparently he didn't trust the factory hood latch. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_2535.jpg Another big block high 9 second 69 Camaro. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_2564.jpg The Marcellus & Borshe "Winged Express" driven by M. Boyd. This is a recreation with some modern upgrades and it ran 7.20's @ over 200. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_2596.jpg The Guasco & Richey "Pure Hell" 32 Bantam. This car ran mid 6's @ 230+. These guys were way more fun to watch than a modern Top Fuel dragster. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-img_2599.jpg |
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Mid 6's @ 230mph(!) with a short wheelbase like that must be an incredibly scary ride, whew.

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Didn't NHRA outlaw Wild Willy and the boys driving the AA/FA cars??
|
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
According to the Pure Hell Fuel Altered website the best time for the car is a 6.19 @ 238. The picture above is an updated version of the original car and it has a longer wheelbase than the original.
