MCACN Air: Mission One

8 Attachment(s)
Greetings my fellow Yenkonians!

In the never ending quest to spread the word about MCACN to areas of the country that most have never heard about, I decided to volunteer my time transporting adopted pets from shelters to their new owners around the globe. And in my mind since the world revolves around me, that globe is about a 400 mile radius area from Ft. Worth. So I joined up with group called Pilots n’ Paws which helps those pets in need of a transport to their new adopted home. It’s strictly volunteer, zero compensation or reimbursement for fuel, wear and tear on the plane, or anything else that you may encounter on one of these journeys. Pilots that own planes volunteer their planes/time, and shelters/families post their transport needs on a forum. When one matches up, each contact the other and the transport begins. You can help save the life which is priceless! :headbang: So I picked this request I saw posted for a German Shepherd to fly to the Tulsa, OK area. Many don’t know this, but I’m an animal lover. Yes, all breeds. The Elephant motor, Rat motor, Cobras, etc. :naughty: No discrimination here! So the phone call kind of went down like this:

Me: “MCACN Air, can I help you?”

Shelter: “Um, yes, is this Cap n’ Dave? We were calling about a puppy transport.”

Me: “One moment please…{music}(”Waiting in the front yard sittin’ on a log, a single-shot rifle and a one-eyed dog, yonder come a..”) “MCAT-N-DAWG Air, this is Captain Dave.”

Shelter: “Hello Captain Dave. I was trying to coordinate a dog transport up to Claremore, OK. Can you do I this for me?”

Me: “Yes, no problem. What’s the year/make/model of the dog? Original Fur? Any paperwork like Broadcast sheet, Fender/Body Buck/Rabies tags, and I’ll need a pic of the stamping to verify the claims. Is this a high horsepower dog?”

Shelter: “Ummm, original fur? :dunno:"

Me: “…And Claremore, OK. Where is this? Montana?

Shelter: “I…uh….it’s just on the other side of Tulsa, which is…”

Me: “Does the dog run? Parking brake work? Steerable?”

Shelter: “ [silence] “:hmmm:

Me: “Also, pickup timeframe could be between Monday at oh-5-hundred hours, and August. Just be ready an hour prior to me getting there with no notification".

Shelter: {click}{dial tone}

Me: “Whoops, hang on, that’s the other line beeping….{click}…”MCACN Air, please hold..{music}(“WHOOOOAAAAA Big ole’ Jet airliner……”)

Apparently there was a bad connection since the phone went dead. But after a call back and things got sorted out, we were on our way!

I removed the last row of seats and pushed row two all the way forward then loaded up the pup and we were on the way! A perfect flight up. The weather was beautiful. An hour and thirty minute flight. I mean, who knew Montana was so close to Texas!:dunno: On the way home we were treated to a gorgeous sunset. A perfect ending to a perfect day. We later found out from the owner that Nickolai was set to be euthanized last week without someone adopting him yet the owner had no way of getting the dog up to him. So this transport really helped out. We’re going to try and do this once a month or so as weather and scheduling allow. It’ll be tricky since MCACN Air has seen a steady increase in bookings lately.:scholar:goggles

That is just awesome Dave. I flew (on United) a rescue to Houston from LA about 8 years ago that was due to be put down. She lived her last 3.5 golden years out in Galveston with my 2 Corgi's. I would do it again tomorrow. Thank you for doing this!!

I'm gettin' all farklempt! Talk amongst yourselves. I'll give you a topic. Dogs and planes flying, one has wings the other doesn't, how does that work? Lets discuss... There, I feel better...

That's awesome Dave!

Thanks guys! Yes, we’ll be doing it again soon. Very rewarding, very enjoyable!

The passenger/pup division has been popular, so I’m branching out into Classic Restoration\Antique Parts, or CRAP Air division:hmmm::biggthumpup:

Remember us for all your parts hauling needs!

Grady: “Hey Mitch, you knows anybody that can get that set of L89 heads to me tomorrow?”
Mitch: “No, not off hand. Crap.:dunno:”
Grady: “Hey, good suggestion! Lemme call CRAP Air!! Good job Mitch!”:3gears:
Mitch: “What the heck is CRAP Air?!”:dunno:

Cheers
Dave
