Off topic... old home renovation - recreating moldings

Hi folks,

Figured there might be some old home buffs on the site. I am slowly renovating a 1924 georgian colonial and am in the midst of redoing one of the glass pane French doors that used to lead to an outside patio. This style door has individual glass panes held in place by a shoe molding type of trim with a specific low-profile shape that I haven’t been able to find reproduced. Does anyone have a source for oddball trim, or maybe a source who can make a custom router bit?

Thanks!

Good luck! Back in the 80s I was doing a resto on a 1907 revival house and needed very large exterior crown moldings. Took a sample to a local Millwork place and had them custom make them. Now all those businesses are gone :(

Down at 6 mile and I75 is a molding place, there’s rooms of moldings in stock, also they can custom make cutters to dupe your trim.
Ive bought walnut, red oak, white oak and mahogany trim there for jobs. Take your pistol along. Lol
It’s either 5 or six mile, I forget, east of the exit.
Post a pic of the profile of your trim.

These guys are in Northport near Traverse City. If you send them the profile they may be able to match it from tooling in stock. If not, they will make custom tooling.

Sorry no, it’s an elaborate section design that isn’t available anywhere I’ve looked. I only used the term “shoe molding” because i wasn’t sure what to call it.
