Best current rust preventative treatments and paint protection?
 

Sorry this isn't musclecar related...


I just picked up this gem yesterday to serve as my new DD. To say it is in incredible condition would be an epic understatement. It's literally one of those "one owner little old lady" cars that's spent the vast majority of its life in a garage. It's a 2014 and only has 39K miles on it--when we put it up on a lift during vehicle inspection before I bought it, the undercarriage is damn near showroom fresh--there's barely even any surface rust on the exhaust system.


As such, I want to take every reasonable measure I can to preserve the cars condition, i.e. undercoating/rust-proofing and paint protection--but other than the old stand-by Ziebart, I don't know where to begin to look nor what the best latest technologies are.


Thoughts/advice please?

Fluid Film. Doesn't drip and doesn't smell bad. I can't seem to load a pic of the stuff.

Being born and raised in the rust belt I have tried just about all the rust preventative systems out on the market on all of my daily drivers
The latest one I have used seems to be the best in my opinion which is

It has held up quite well thru rain and snow and still is “sticky” to the frame and underbody of my truck
I have a local distributor who applies it for me and am quite pleased with the results

X2 on Woolwax/fluid film/lanolin oil. Apply yearly either by yourself or there are places that do it now one of them being krown.

If you don't want to to apply the Fluid Film or WW yourself there are a lot of places that will do it in the fall.

If driven in winter , always like to clean underside thoroughly after they salt road final time of season and a good rain to wash roads has occurred . Always thought that road treatment allowed to get into nooks and crannies and allowed to get wet all year around causes most problem . So a good bath of under carriage at self serve car wash or if you have pressure washer another way . And drive thoroughly to air dry when possible after car is in heavy rain or after good bath .

My personal test with Fluid film came about25 years ago. I took a chunk of mild steel plate sprayed it and threw it in the snow bank over the winter.( 6 months ) In the spring that steel plate was as clean as a whistle. Fluid film uses the wool wax technologie

My grandpa would take his old engine oil and rub it on the metal of his tractors. Worked pretty good!

Everything I have that sees road duty between October and April gets an annual trip to New Hampshire Oil Undercoating.
