Sam Pierce the Chevrolet dealer tracked this car down and restored it as he was doing with many Muscle Cars a while back. Told me he had found the original engine to the car as well? Based on my experience the VIN plate should not be the same color/paint as the dash.

Thanks for the info. I have very limited experience with dashes other than black.

Still curious about the WS showing M22 for $195.

Even black ones do not use the same paint. The VIN tag is a semi gloss black with a smooth finish while the dash has a flat texture so that it won't reflect light and blind you while driving.

Other documents I've seen close to this time frame list M22 for $322.10

WS is a bad repro. Missing the order confirmation number, destination charge is incorrect, M22 MSRP was $322.10. A few incorrect ECLs.

The ribs on the door for the MVSS label were implemented over the July-Aug shutdown. Earliest examples are mid-August production.

Only early Norwood cars [through approximately N520xxx] had the VIN tag painted to match non-black interiors. The VIN tag was painted prior to installation using the same suede finish paint.

Thank you for that info.

Based on my observation and what has been disclosed in the thread, proceed very cautiously. Someone went to great lengths to reproduce some documentation. That's a red flag !:thumbsdown:

Fake paperwork is a huge red flag. Sadly, this would not be the first car that MAY be authentic but has been called into question because of fake paper. A real car with all the right numbers should stand on its own merits without faking paper work. How about the POP?

William: You said;

My car is 08A and has the ribs. It has one of the "low" reset bdy numbers, so I believe it SHOULD have received the sticker, but it did not.

I have seen earlier ones, so assumed they implemented earlier, knowing it was coming.

Is there GM documentation on that? Hate to derail the thread. Perhaps there is a discussion over on CRG regarding the ribs?

John Z has stated the earliest MVSS labels self-adhered but quickly fell off. The fix was the mylar overlay. I looked at an untouched 09C COPO a few years ago and the label and overlay were still attached so the fix worked well.

The label and its location are depicted in the '69 AIM UPC 0 page B1 but no date.

The label was required for cars built for the 1970 model year; those seem to be cars with re-set body numbers and 08A tag dates. The last July 1969 VIN produced according to GM was N669119. However when production resumed August of '69, there must have been released orders at Fisher because there are later N669xxx VINs with 07A tags. Those cars may have gotten the revised door but no label.
