"It was long ago and it was far away
And it was so much better than it is today..." The musical genius of the "Bat out of Hell" album wasn't fully appreciated until long after it's release. I remember seeing a Biopic on MTV I think many years ago- really good and amazing story of how he rose to success from humble beginnings. RIP. |

Bat out of Hell still sells over 200,000 copies annually. Saw him when he was making his comeback in the late '80's at a dive bar in NW Ohio. He was almost 3 hours late to the event but put on a killer show, long hair and sweat flying all around him.

My breakthrough into adultghood album. Know and love every work of Bat out of Hell. So very sad.

Bat out of Hell was released in October of '77 and by spring and summer of 1978 it seemed EVERY car that went by had it blaring out the windows, from my recollection as a 9-year-old. Monster album. He will be missed RIP.

Some sources say his first name was Marvin while others say Michael. :dunno:
