Apple Air Tag
Anyone using these? Seems like pretty good insurance.
https://www.amazon.com/Apple-MX532AM...31457285&psc=1 There are a lot of articles on line about WHERE to hide it in a car. Of course, just like the folks at TrimTags.com read all the posts about what is wrong with fake trim tags (and then improved them) the crooks are reading every one of the articles on where to hide an Airtag. So, I am not suggesting we start discussing the hiding options, but I am certain a group as creative as this one will figure out some good hiding spots. I am purchasing one just to start playing with it and will then figure out best places to hide it. |
I've read a few cases about cars being tracked down by one of these. Problem is around here, the cops literally DO NOT CARE about stolen cars or property, so you'll know where your car is and it's basically vigilante time if you want it back.
Now I'm wondering how tough it would be to setup an old cell phone and/or RPi so you'd have GPS along with a way to cut the ignition remotely? |
I have one because for the money it could be cheap insurance.
I was thinking of getting one for my car keys too! There is a keychain option. |
I have one in my trailer and one in the Camaro. Works good. Sends an alert to your phone when you fist get separated from them. Can pull up location any time on I phone. Battery lasts about a year, then you toss and replace.

I travel internationally every month. I have been using them for over a year. They are excellent. Highly recommend for tracking anything, anywhere.

I have 4 of these. I use them in trailers and cars that I own. They are very accurate as far as the location. They do send you texts when you leave the area they are in. I think thats just a setting you can change to not get the alerts, but I leave mine because I want the alerts. One thing that does happen if someone has iPhone and use your trailer, it lets them now that a tracking device is nearby, which could also let a criminal know they are being tracked. But then they would have to find it and you can make that as difficult as you want.
I put them under the carpet, under seats in cars. You would be able to go right to the spot the air tag is at and you can even track it as its moving. I have had mine over a year and in 20 below weather etc and they all still work fine. |

I have in cars, luggage, golf clubs etc. They are great and there is no monthly fee.

Great holder with 3M tape to hide in your car. Basically anytime someone with a I phone goes near the air tag you can find it. |
