Anyone Recognize This Window Decal?
 

Trying to trace back the ownership history of my 1969 Camaro. The original windshield had this military (parking?) decal that I'm trying to decipher. The car is originally from Long Beach NY (Booth Chevrolet, Babylon) and spent much of its (short) road life in the Brooklyn NY area. Internet searches turn up nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

Definitely a department of defense sticker for a military vehicle.

The is similar to our Parking Passes (Vehicle Decal) for the Naval Bases in Kitsap County (WA).
That sticker is for Naval Shipyard Long Beach (LA) Calif. (Closed in 1997)
Normally there would be a Month and Year digits decals to the right and left of the main sticker body.

After re-reading your Car history, I am confused by the New York references. The Naval Yard in N.Y. was called: United States Naval Shipyard, Brooklyn and New York Naval Shipyard at various points in its history.

Interesting indeed, and thanks for the info on the windshield decal. Seems my car may have spent some time in California which is news to me but importantly its all part of discovering the chain of ownership. Thanks very much for your post!

Post Script: My shop partner suggested one possibility is that the car had a used windshield from the same donor Camaro that contributed the other front end parts following a collision in the early '70s. Can't say for sure, research is needed.

What's the date code on that windshield?

Good question, will have to check my photos, the windshield is long gone.

I reviewed my disassembly photos of the car that included windshield and door glass etchings. My car is a 2B (2nd week of February 1969) build date,

Windshield is coded: LOF M24 (tinted), dated CX (November 68)
Door glass is coded: LOF M51 (non-tinted), dated XV (February 69)
The backlight is also non-tinted

Tinted glass was available as an all-glass or windshield only option in MY1969 so the presence of a tinted windshield doesn't rule anything out however as the original door glass (and backlite) are dated 3 months earlier than the installed windshield and, from my photos of the windshield frame and of the removed glass, it appears it was not installed using the GM standard foam dam (which tends to adhere to the glass when its removed from the car) its likely a donor car replacement windshield.
