Need a yes know answer Ls6 fan

Can someone answer this question Yes or No, with certainty. "No ls6 with a 331 rear and a non heavy duty 3 core radiator left the factory with a #772 fan" Thanks

Never say never! Chris White and I have discussed this many times. He is correct that the buildsheet specifically calls out the 064 fan and NOT the 772 fan. I on the other hand have personally inspected at least 3 supposed never molested LS6's with the 772 fan. We all know that the assembly line has had to use other parts when the specific part was not available and I believe the 772 fan could be one of these. Many used to say that the ground and factory restamped CRW rearend was a forged restamp. Now we know that the factory did indeed grind and restamp these for reasons unknown so NEVER SAY NEVER.

To hear, from the lips of former Norwood Workers, the stories about how things were done when cars came “down the line” shatters many ‘authority’ folks. Like a Camaro coming out of Fisher Body that didn’t have the hole in the floor pan for the trans, but a four speed was on the order. They called the worker “Hatcher” because he came along with the sheer gun and made the hole, not missing the time constraint. ~ true story...

Here, a worker shows how he was the welder who spent an additional 11 seconds to make sure a weld was correct! Alway got reprimanded.

Of course I never say "NEVER", but in talking to an old friend of mine who was a line supervisor, the substitution rule was that you could add an upgraded part, but not a downgraded part. So if you ran out of standard sized battery trays, you could substitute the larger tray from a HD battery/big engine car, but not vice versa. With engine fans I would think you could add a clutch fan or fan with more blades if your car was spec'd for less, but you couldn't downgrade to, say a 4 blade no clutch fan in an air conditioned car. It was to be avoided if possible, but it was preferable to stopping the line or pulling cars to the side. In this case, the 772 fan would be an "upgrade", right?

The 772 and 064 fan are very similar to each other, other than the tip design which I believe was done for noise reduction so neither an upgrade or downgrade in my opinion. (Rick Peters photo)

Depending on your location, the poster right above you, SS427, can probably authenticate a '70 Chevelle as well as anyone...:dunno:
