Re: Harry Mann 68 L78 / L88 Camaro

I'm in the process of doing some brake work to the car. After rebuilding the front calipers, I am not impressed with the brake fluid pressure or volume at the calipers when bleeding. I took the car for a road test and again, I am not impressed.

So, is there a way to test/check the distribution block as well as the proportioning valve? I know replacements are available. I would just like to keep the original parts on it.

Thanks!

Tim

Re: Harry Mann 68 L78 / L88 Camaro

After DW Cook gave me a little advice in the tech section, I was able to figure out how the proportioning valve works.

Rebuilt the M/C with a kit, opened up the proportioning valve to vacuum bleed the brakes and.............shazam!.................WE GOT BRAKES....................as good as they are going to get with a ZL1 cam.

Got a few things sorted out on the car, then bubba's work on the carb reared its head. The baseplate was glued where the idle screw threads in.

I've got a message into Eric to see if he has a nice baseplate for a 4053 Holley

So much for a debut at a little car show tomorrow

Glad you got the brakes sorted out. Hopefully Eric will have what you need to get that beast running nicely again.

Eric rebuilt the carb.

..what did you call him?

The brakes are a different story. That would be Sal from American muscle cars. He's the
reason I sold the car after 13 years of ownership.

There was some "JB Weld" on the idle screw boss. My experiences with Eric have been nothing short of top notch. I believe someone else was in there since then.

Again, the brakes with a ZL1 cam..........pretty good!
