Lightweight Galaxie bell housing?
1 Attachment(s)
I just picked this one up. I've never seen another one ever. Factory aluminum C3AA-6394-A (these are usually cast iron). Can anyone confirm that this is what the actual application is? Someone else said Thunderbolt but I'm not sure.

For what it's worth, there is a similar Holman Moody (not Ford) aluminum bell housing on Ebay. Says it's for Boss 429 Marine apps.

Rick </div></div> True but that's for boat drive mounting pattern. This is for a 4 speed transmission and isn't marked Holman Moody anywhere. |
Re: Lightweight Galaxie bell housing?
Anyone here ever own an original survivor Lightweight Galaxie and can elaborate? I know some of them came with RC aluminum scattershields but they couldn't have all come that way. I wonder if this was the "standard" bell and most were junked before they were raced and in went the RC.

Re: Lightweight Galaxie bell housing?
Odd ball based on the part number being the cast unit I would guess it is a race part. A cheater made for a ringer. The only alum used on a factory app FE 63-65 was the RC. You have an extremely rare bell for a deep starter early car

It would be interesting to know the history of the piece.

Re: Lightweight Galaxie bell housing?
I was told this came out of Holman Moody directly in a used parts purchase back in the 1970's. There is no Holman Moody part numbers or casting marks anywhere on this so it's definitely a Ford made piece.
