The gentleman is incorrect. BV most likely came out of a Camaro. You'd need to check the casting date to see if it lines up with the rest of the components, and build date but it probably came from a wrecked Z, or L78 Camaro. Back in the day you just went to the junk yard and swapped the whole rear. Or the guy could be a real fine fellow, and re stamped one. Either way. Not original, born with rear (unless re stamp).

If he has the protecto plate it would say what rear & trans it came with correct?

The M-22 was a 'solid lifter' engine only option...as for the rear gears, as others have pointed out, they didn't put 4.10 gears behind the 350/300 motor.
I would just ask him to prove his claims by sending or showing you the transmission and rear end stampings. The trans would have to have the VIN and the rear would have to be the correct date range. Of course paperwork or a POP would be nice... Please post the ad link so we can see this 'rare' car... -wilma |
