COPO chevelle engine found!
I have recently acquired a 69 512 "MQ" stamped block, the ultimate goal would be to reunite it with the original car, it does have a vin stamp and it is from a KC built car, I have the NCRS report and the car has a production date of 4/17/69, the block has a casting date of 11/19/68 with a assembly date of 1/22/69, which i believe has to be one of the earliest MQ blocks
The car was sold from Mac's Chevrolet in Crete NE! DEALER CODE 532 IN ZONE 29! i have spoke with many locals in the area trying to get any info and not much luck! VIN is 136379K4338XX, I dont feel comfortable with releasing the whole VIN just yet! There is one lead and not sure how accurate it is , but possible two brothers bought new cars on the same day one being a COPO camaro and the other being this COPO chevelle, possible a Black Cheveele, any leads would be great please call anytime 402-598-5496 |
Good luck Jake. Sure hope you can reunite the engine to the car.

I met a guy from Cleveland OH area about 25 years ago, who found a COPO block in a speed shop. He bought the engine, and then did a DMV search for the car. He found it in Mansfield area, and was able to reunite the two. I was able to see the car—beautifully unrestored. It was Monaco Orange with black bench interior, and TH 400 on the column.

The guy who reunited the engine and car was a home builder, and he took me to where he stored it in a spec home garage. I met him because I was looking for a Holley 4346. He had a bunch of bodies and fuel bowls, and was able to put one together for me. I had that carb restored, and it’s on my Camaro, today. |
Nice fond, hope it finds its way back where it belongs!
