I have two 1112000 Distributors side by side and wanted to know if anyone has ever seen this Weird Stamp on a 1112000 1970 L78 Distributor before ?
It shows the fonts are the same but why would they "X" out two of the zeros on one distributor ? These are Dated 0B24 (1970 February 24) one with X'd out double zero and 0D9 (1970 April 9). Applications are >>> -1970 Chevelle SS 396 L34 350 HP Automatic, -1970 Automatic or 4 Speed Camaro SS 396 L78 and Nova SS 396 L78. |
2000 distributor..
Strange stamping...I will have to look at some of my originals to see how the font matches these. The '2' looks different from one to the other...the date stamp is also a little off, because the zero for 70 is way to the left. :confused2:
Pretty sure the 0D9 is a known date.... -wilma |

All good, my Question was awnsered privately by a reputable dealer that has had a few of these in his time with the zeros having those X's.
My concern was not if it was a re stamp as it definetly is NOT. Thank You |
2000 distributor...
So what is the reason for the 'x-out'...

Reason to me still unknown why the factory would X-Out those last two Zeros thats for sure. |
First I've seen where a 1112000 is for z28 or Deuce applications. Most info I've found says it was the 1112019, but I'm always learning. Some references to a 1112003 but none of have been seen on original cars.

Just wondering if it’s because the 0 from the date code is so close to the stamping number?

1112019 is for the LT1

Here are some related threads regarding an X on a distributor.
They have been observed on other part numbers. https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=162643 https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=161801 https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=144524 |
