A couple Q's about a 74 Z & a 62 Impala?
Saw a couple cars on FB and wondered if related statements were correct:
1. Were 1974 Z/28 stripes applied at the dealers instead of the factory? 2. Were there any 1962 409 Impalas that weren't SS's? Thanks. |
----I can easily answer No. 2. You could get any full size 62 Chevy body with any of the 409 engines available. Bubble tops are the prime example.....Bill S

Thanks Bill, wasn't sure.

1974 z28 could be ordered with or without the D88 stripes.
If you ordered without stripes, you got the metal z28 emblems on the fender. If you ordered with stripes this eliminated the fender emblems. Stripes were installed at the factory Some confusion here may be that if a car was ordered without the stripes, the dealer could order them and put them on. |
Makes sense, thank you.
