Plating for power brake booster tube and fitting

When you guys restore your power brake booster tubes and fittings what finish did you use? I blasted and zinc plated mine with my Caswell kit. I decided not to do the chromate conversion coating because I thought it looked correct. Only draw back is it has no protection and the typical zinc white rust is setting in. The haze you see on the bracket is the white rust and it polishes away very easy. What is considered the correct finish? Please take a look at the pic below and give me your opinion. Any and all feed back is greatly appreciated.

Although I haven't restored the specific power brake booster tubes and fittings you are asking about, we routinely use a blue chromate conversion coating following clear zinc plating on most any part we clear zinc plate. We use Caswell products too and find blue chromate produces a finish that is closer to what's available from commercial platers (clear zinc) and it serves to prevent zinc oxidation. Hope that helps.

Thank you Lloyd. I'm going to go with blue chromate conversion. I can always change it later if needed. I'm probably will have to plate it again but I'll try dipping it in the blue chromate and see what happens. I feel like a mad scientist when using this stuff.

Good to know you use the Caswell kit and blue chromate conversion coating on other parts. Helps to know how our fellow hobbyists are finding creative ways to simulate the original finishes. Thanks again.
