For those who'd use PayPal or Venmo etc.

With all the changes being made to track sales and cash flow between buyers, sellers and these payment carriers now reporting the transferring of funds to our respective governments, I recently closed my PayPal account for good. I was then talking to a buddy of mine who sells a lot of parts and mails them off and he said the same thing...dropped eBay and PayPal completely but was scratching his head on how or where to proceed?

He said he'd likely go back to swap meets and cash sales dealing in person to move his parts. I know he buys a lot off Amazon and told him to consider taking payment via Amazon credit. I said you could always sell an item to someone and get them to transfer you a gift card or an emailed credit on Amazon etc. He's like hey wait a minute...that could work?

Anyone ever sent someone a gift card or emailed one through Amazon or something similar?

We have bought gift cards on Amazon and emailed the confirmation number to family members as gifts that they can use to purchase what they want.

I would think sellers on Amazon are going to fall under this scrutiny too and have to divulge who made the payment. Our wonderful gubment is trying to get tthis enacted to include ALL person bank accounts with over $600 in them...:bs:

The IRS reporting all transactions in consumer bank accounts over $600 failed to become law. It has a very steep uphill battle to overcome.

IRS even had PayPal require me to list my Canadian address in order to continue with sales into the US and that's when I said enough was enough and closed my accounts.

Not sure I'll ever open another with things going this way.

Yes governments and banks pretty much have the same dumb, heavy-handed strategy when it comes to catching criminals - treat EVERYBODY as if they are a criminal first.

The Administration has changed the threshold from $600 to $10,000 with a number of qualifiers. The proposal is in the $3.5 trillion bankruptcies bill which hasn't passed YET!!!

Maybe it’s time to start asking for money orders via snail mail.

I tried last year to get an International (Pink Colored) US Money Order from Canada Post and they told me they were discontinued about a year ago. Told me to go to the bank and get a US draft. More BS
