I just saw the right side of the bumper and tail panel. Looks like it's tagged on the right. Hopefully just the quarter and not the whole side.
Jeeeeez Tony, keep us in suspense for HOURS !! I keep looking for that new thread. |
Here are a couple more pics with the back story.
I bought the car from the original owner's brother who bought it new from Merollis Chevrolet, just a few miles from the house where it had been stored since the 1990s. It's a neat car that seems to have one repaint in Shadow Gray, an all-original black interior, and its original M21 and 4.10 COO code 12-bolt rear. It does have a CE block that was installed in '71, and the smog system was removed and the tubes plugged, but otherwise it seems pretty original. It came with the POP but no other docs. The body is really clean except for the passenger rear quarter, which was hit and poorly repaired, and hit again, along with a pretty sizeable crease in the passenger door. I'm going to hang a quarter on it and see if the skin can be straightened. This is my first second-gen - I'm pretty stoked. I love how the OO ordered this car. https://photos.smugmug.com/1970-Z28/...638C320-X2.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/1970-Z28/...7ABB85B-X2.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/1970-Z28/...DE91209-X2.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/1970-Z28/...B6903BB-X2.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/1970-Z28/...C3BD8AC-X2.jpg |
Find a clean southern door and an NOS quarter and you're in business. I'll shoot you a PM...
Seems maybe the original tires and engine only lasted 8,000 miles... |
The original engine in my 70 Z project lasted 9100 miles. The CE short block wasn’t even painted by the dealer! After 8 years, finally painted and home in my garage. Was just in South Carolina picking up my engine. My engine builder is now suffering from dementia and is in a home. Thinking of using Merkel Wish I was smart enough to post pics, the car came out amazing! Worth the wait!

Very cool, if you want to email me the pics I’ll post them for you.

It’s an early car before the “Z” was added to the “28” code on the TT.

The LT1 has a warranty block, but seems to have all the other original Z stuff including the carb.

I grew up not to far from Merollis I can hear their radio commercials in my head https://youtu.be/Np6Hel6Z3Yw |
Looks more like Palmer park.
