#s '66 L79 Chevy II

Neat car with a very strange color combo, especially for a 350hp car: Sandalwood Tan with a Cameo Beige painted top, and beige interior.

Seller claims original powertrain but didn't provide any pictures of the critical stamps...would be nice to see those.

Trim tag has been off the car.

Pretty cool L79 but I'd like more info to help substantiate how original it really is.

L79

This is is very nice car, and represents the flip side of the coin to my car, which was examined pretty hard over at Steve's Nova site. This one has all the correct components, without a shred of evidence that they are from the car in question ( as of this post) ., If they in fact do "match" do they match the car, or match each other, or have any paper to verify that it left the factory as an L79 ?

My car has none of the original L79 drivetrain, but has documenation as the last L79 to roll off the line in Oshawa in 1966, not to mention it is a 100 series sedan. I find it interesting to see the posts from those who think that mine is no longer an L79. What do you call this one when it likely began life as a regular smallblock car ?

For the record, mine was bid to the reserve, but with no bidder history I cancelled the bid and may have thrown a real buyer overboard. I have not followed up on any post auction offers as I plan to enjoy it this summer. But with falling Canadian $ I might still change my mind.

If I were in the market to buy a 66 L-79., and if I want one that has its Original L-79 drivetrain in it. I’d personally just call the phone number and request pics of the needed photos to verify the car was born with this drivetrain. It’s just that simple. If you are looking for car that is born and still is an L-79. You have to request the photos or better yet, go see the car and verify it as an original born with drivetrain L-79.

Of course this one will require a tiny paint brush to black out those shiny trim tag rivets LOL SMH

I recall seeing the car in readers rides NNN almost 35 years ago. I believe the car to be a legit L79. I have no doubt it is. The car is a low mileage car and was raced as usual per the original owner. In the description the original owner stated he had everything to put it back together stored in the cellar. Guess they couldn't find the original console and other items. The owner stated he would never sell it. He was telling the truth. His wife sold it. I love the "odd" color combo. I've seen a blurry picture of the deck. It has been decked. I can't make sense of the blurry numbers. It will come with a big list of items to be corrected and or needed.
