New Headlights 2004 Suburban...

Pretty sure I have inquired before, but now I'm serious...

The 2004 Suburban needs better lights or I need to not drive at nite.

Stopped at the local NAPA store and got some info on replacement bulbs and new assemblies. Lens have been cleaned before with minimal improvement.

NAPA offers oem style headlite housings and selection of bulbs. The housings are made by Spyder...their top of line bulb is called NightVision...it is a halogen lite.

Looked online and there are a lot of choices and prices...too many for me :hmmm:

Anyway, I think 2 new housings with better bulbs is the way to go....just need to pick a brand.

Any input would be appreciated.

Tom

No input from me, but I will be watching this, as I could use the same improvement on my 04 Yukon XL Denali.

(2) new OEM housings is the first thing to correct this issue, and then use a good name brand bulb. I just went through this with my 1995 454 K-2500 pickup I bought new. WHAT a difference. Bill

Seeing how yellowed and cloudy my original oem housings are, I am wondering if aftermarket would fare just as well.
I agree that there are many items where oem is the only way to go. Not so sure about this.

Lynn,

I was ready to buy aftermarket too, but for $40.00 more each I found NOS GM ones on of all places, E-Bay, and you can't argue OEM (Hell they lasted 28 years) What a difference driving it at night now. Bill

Are Suburban and Pickup the same? I bought some GM NOS awhile back for a Silverado pickup. Heres what I had bought

NOS GM Headlights are 10396913 LH and 10396912 RH

I know the RH is available, but the LH is showing as Unavailable

These are on ebay in the range of $185 each and the come with bulbs as one unit.

Headlights..

Been doing some homework....there are a lot of options on Amazon or E-bay...too many.

Found this company....

Found this shopping guide for bulbs...

Another way to improve the lights on these trucks is to remove the floating ground to the headlight switch that shuts off the low beams when the high beams are turned on. One of the wires on the low beam, dont remember which color, just needs to be cut and grounded to the radiator support with an eyelet. Low beam stays on when you go to bright. Makes a big difference. Found this mod somewhere on the internet.

I checked my history and I was wrong. On a 1995 K-2500 Pickup the headlights are:
Left: 15034930 My cost through my Chevy dealer was $150.00
Right: 15034929 My cost through ebay was $186.85 shipped.
The left parking light was a: 5976837 and my cost was $55.00 through Chevy dealer
The right parking light was a: 5976838 and my cost was $55.00 through ebay.

So a Pick up and a Suburban are different. Sorry for any confusion. Bill

No need to replace old housings. Wet sand lens with 600 until all the yellow water disappears then clearcoat with your favorite clear, I like SPI for this.

As for lights I prefer to use bulbs in 5000k or 5500k LED color temp, for white light at night without too much blue or yellow
