Chevrolet Zone Courtesy Cars

Can someone tell me (with some certainty) if these cars were always produced prior to fullfilling customer orders and dealer stock orders at the start of model year or could they be produced throughout the year? The only two I've seen noted on buildsheets have thus far been at the very start of a production year so just wondering.

Also, any further explanation on the prime purpose of these courtesy cars would be welcomed........thanks.

Dick, both IMO. The Bal pilot LS6 was a CMD CC car,it was built approx one week prior to the first dealer stock or cust order cars. It made the rounds at northeast region dealers showcasing the new RPO. This info was provided to me by the exec who drove the car for the first month of it's life. The only other documented 12B LS6(to date) was a Leeds coupe, also a Zone CC. I'm sure either of the Rick's can provide much more info, but of the LS6 Sheets I have there are a couple or three CC cars in the mix that spanned the length of production(dec- july) Obviously this is limited to A's ,but it's a start.
