Wisconsin Yenko ?
Whatever happened to the 69 Camaro I think was in Wisconsin in some guys back yard rotting? I think it was green, but it's been awhile since I read about it. It was sunk into the ground and at the time the guy did not want to sell.

Re: Wisconsin Yenko ?
I heard a recent rumor that it is being restored now. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Wisconsin Yenko ?
I may be alone in this thought, but I think the car is sorta cool in its weathered and "left for dead" condition... Don't get me wrong, its sad it got to this point, and it should be put inside to prevent further decay, but I think I'd actually enjoy looking around this car the way it looks right now than i would if it was fully restored like all the rest. I've never seen the car in anything but photos, but have spent literally hours looking at the various pics of the car that are floating around. Would be cool to have it at SCR just as it is at least once... THEN restore it.

Re: Wisconsin Yenko ?
I'm headed that way on Monday. I'll stop by and see what the story is, or at least see if the car is still there.
Last time I drove past 10 months or so ago, the car was moved, but still tarped in the back yard. Will try to get some pics if possible. Blair |
Re: Wisconsin Yenko ?
Joe I agree...I always said I 'd like to see these cars at the reunion. The unrestored cars are a treat for sure.I'd usually walk over a thousand restored cars to get to a beater....Don't get me wrong, restored is fantastic,as long as it's done correctly..And for this to happen we NEED to see these cars.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif
Bring out your .. "Super Beaters" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif Steve |
Re: Wisconsin Yenko ?
I also love "supercar beaters". If I owned that car I would seriously try to get it running and drive it for a summer or two just like that! Sure as hell would be a conversation piece! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: Wisconsin Yenko ?
I am sure you ain't gettin that one running without some major something. Could become the first Yenko (RAT ROD) camaro. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: Wisconsin Yenko ?
Well, the car is gone. I stopped and talked to the nephew of the owner (less than friendly I might add) and he said that his uncle is having the car restored "by a guy that knows bodywork"... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
I feel safer already. I hope it lives again, but it sounds like a so/so effort to me. I think the guy is tired of hearing about this car from strangers. Blair |

Met quite a few guys so far. I’ll be at that car again at opening today |
I was also surprised at the condition of the car based on the story of outdoor storage for many years. I did not attempt to crawl underneath the car yesterday to see what that looks like, but in my mind this one would be a great candidate to make it mechanically sound and drive it for a while.
|
I noticed by 4pm yesterday someone had taken the rear yenko emblem. I hope it was the owner.

^ gah!!!!!

I have to think that the owner removed the yenko badge. We were over there yesterday afternoon and he was hanging out by his car. Here is a picture of some SYC members and Yenko owners inspecting the rear of the nicely patina'd supercar.

Been waiting for pictures to surface of it at the show. Was really hoping to make it and see it for myself but my son decided to make an entrance into the world a bit sooner than expected lol.
Looks pretty original. Would make for an easy resto but I could see this being one of those “do I or don’t I” type situations. This would for sure have been helpful to see in our restoration of the 668616 FG Yenko that also is an automatic car. I appreciate the pics everyone has shared thus far just wish I coulda been there to see it in person lol |
I spoke with who I believe is the owners wife. She told me that they removed the rear Yenko emblem after they saw someone else messing with it. She indicated that their plan was to not restore the car.
|
It's great that they took it to the show for others to see and hopefully they will keep it inside somewhere
|
Was cool checking it out today.
I heard the floors in it need work it was sitting in mud for a while. But the exterior sheetmetal looked decent. |
When I walked around it yesterday, I notice the rear emblem was hanging half loose and was wondering if it would fall off. If someone had tried to steal it, that's just shameful...:mad2:
Yeah, after hearing the history of the car being parked outside for so long, the body is quite solid. There is evidence of past rust and filler in it around the rear wheel openings and the front fenders, so it would need more than a cursory buff out to be nice, but it is very complete and original appearing. |

That would be a bummer. The car deserves to have the mechanical refreshed/restored and make the car driveable. It is way too cool to let it continue to sit and waste away. |
From my conversation I understood it to mean a mechanical refurbish and drive it was in the plans. I’m guessing the owner will chime in at some point

Alright !! That would be fitting and cool. I'm sure enough Supercar people asked him to join...:cool2: |

There were two Fathom Green 69 Yenkos from the same area that have been posted
I believe the one in the top photo was restored The one in the lower photo was at the show |
I spoke with both the husband and wife who currently own the car. They pulled it out from the yard and stored it for the owner for many years….something like 20 years. He’s wanted to by the car from the owner the whole time and the owner finally sold it to them a few weeks prior to the show. IIRC
They are on the fence when considering restoring the car but for now, they plan on getting it road worthy and just driving the car. They were very nice people and happy to tell the story….over and over again. That car had a LOT of attention! There was a Hemi Daytona in the middle isle just in front of it…..and as rare as that Daytona is, it got no where near the attention of the Yenko. Kurt |
