Trans-AM for wife
I am looking for a Trans-Am in the 1970-1980 range that
would suitable for a wife to drive that does not like to drive oiur "big cars". Any thoughts from this very prestigous group. We would only drive a few days of year and I am not looking for a show car, only a driver. Suggestions? Best year/options/price range 10-15K. ps she really wants the bird on the hood, so that is a criteria also.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif |

Re: Trans-AM for wife
Thanks Mike. Great site.
Will keep an eye on it. Do you have experience with them? THanks Jim |
Re: Trans-AM for wife
The bird came along in 1973

Re: Trans-AM for wife
Jim, no problem, JMHO, in your price range a driver quality TA leaves the '70-'73 cars out of the picture. After that, it's personal preference, I prefer the round head light cars which were built through '76.
As much as I hate to say it, there have been a few very nice mid/late 70's TA's on Ebay lately. HTH, Mike |

Re: Trans-AM for wife
If you do a search on "cars for sale" you'll pull up a lot of classic car sites. Here's a pretty popular one:

Re: Trans-AM for wife
The Black '79 Trans Am I bought from budnate about a year ago just got consigned at my friend's classic car dealership.
It's a very nice running/driving car that has been taken care of throughout its life. Hopefully it still has all of its original documentation as well. Its a black T-top with red velour interior and red/yellow screaming chicken and decals. WS6 suspension with 4 wheel disc brakes and 15x8" snowflake wheels sporting new Goodyear Eagle GT2's that I put on it before I sold it. 403/AT with all the power goodies. I think the last owner put a new stereo into it (it had an old aftermarket one when Bud and I had it). Call Mark at Memory Lane Motors 206-575-1258 in Seattle if you'd like more info (M-F 10-6 Pac Time). His website is www.memorylanemotors.net, but the car just came in, so its not on there yet. My 3 year old daughter recognized it when we pulled in to visit the other day. "Daddy, its your big red chicken car!" (Only those whose children watch Dora The Explorer will get the significance of her comment) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |

Re: Trans-AM for wife
Thanks for all the great info. Lots to look at.
Richard, if you were closer I would have a look, not sure my wife would drive a 4 speed, But I would! Seattle is a place I can get to easily from Calgary though! Wish they had Super Chevy there still. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif Jim |
Re: Trans-AM for wife
Richard, not busting your chops or anything but I believe you missed the year on your car. It has the '77 or '78 front and rear bumpers. A 4 speed would be a blast in one of those.

Re: Trans-AM for wife
yea my old black car had all the paperwork and was a exstremely nice original car!, or the red car Nickey has looks really good to, I would swing at either of those two if I wanted a nice T/A today. nice original cars are getting harder to find, to many seem to have the quicky car lot resto to them. good luck searching, https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
I tried to attch a old pic of the black car but have a new pc and cant figure out how to use my new pic software yet,DOH! |

Re: Trans-AM for wife
Here's a neat one: a 1975 455HO 4 speed, here in Jersey:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pontiac-T...tem130187295455 Looks like a decent, rare car with a load of paperwork. Neat color too: blue with red and white interior. |
Re: Trans-AM for wife
Boy this looks like a potential winner. Lotsa pics, great colors, no leaky T-tops.
Plus, I think there's a few board members nearby to take a looky-see.....not near Canada, however. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...018824&rd=1 |
Re: Trans-AM for wife
I bet in person that car is not that nice. Lotsa peel in the paint,Dyed panels inside and undercoated trunk floor would keep me looking. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: Trans-AM for wife
Perhaps a little new, but has a lot of merit:
'85 TransAm, Ruby Red, Low Mile, One Owner! We all want it. A clean, carefully driven, garage kept, high performance automobile complete with owner history and documentation. This 1985 Pontiac Trans Am was purchased new by the current owner and treated just that way. 36,265 immaculate miles, this excellent example of the 3rd Generation Trans Am is stone stock, and aside from regular maintenance items, like tires, the battery, and the like, she is also completely original. Only the slightest scuffs in the door sills and front chin spoiler tell you she has been driven at all. 36,265 original miles. http://www.showyourauto.com/am/listings/l0188.html http://www.showyourauto.com/am/listi...ages/188_1.jpg |
