AERO Chevrolet, Alexandria, VA
I pulled this off a '66 Chevelle in a junk yard in Va. this past weekend. It's just a dull cast plate, no chrome, but it's made of something that doesn't rust. Does anyone own a car from this dealer? If so, you can have it. The junky didn't charge me anything for it.
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...z/IMG_0125.jpg It used sticky tape to attach, but it seems to show evidence of earlier posts. Perhaps this one was later and the '66 was on the used car lot.? http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...z/IMG_0126.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gifVerne |

Re: AERO Chevrolet, Alexandria, VA
YIKES almighty!!!!!! I still see the fuel filler hole in the quarter. Are you bringing it back to race trim??????????????? You have one HELL of a car there!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
Just so you know, the '66 Chevelle had it's AERO emblem on the left side of the flat trunk panel, about 2" away from the taillights, centered vertically. I couldn't think of a better place for this emblem to go!!!! It'll be in the mail Mon. (got your PM) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gifVerne |

Verne,
Not sure you ever read this link when it was originally posted. If not, here it is again. Sweet car! Jon Mello's Z-28 #1 Rick |
Re: AERO Chevrolet, Alexandria, VA
Thanks Rick. I feel really good about being able to provide him with an original dealer emblem. That car sure deserves it! So, it's really the FIRST Z-28 huh? Man, what a special car!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Re: AERO Chevrolet, Alexandria, VA
Dave,
I don't know if I'll be going back there or not. I probably should because there are several cars I didn't get to see. I think we got about 20 documented to add to the dbase. I'll keep my eyes open for you. Anyone know how long AERO was in business? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gifVerne |

Re: AERO Chevrolet, Alexandria, VA
WOW! That's some legacy! I wonder how many Chevrolet dealers there were across the US in 1920. I know in 1963 there were about 6800.
By the way, I just got back from the P.O. It's taped to a piece of wood in a padded envelope so it "should" survive the trip. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif Verne |
