Another Trip to the Yard
Thought I'd share some pics to the "yard" yesterday.

Re: Another Trip to the Yard
Chuck,
I keep hoping that I'll find a split bumper car. I do find another 70 Camaro every trip. The whole underside is GONE on that 70 pictured above. Found a 72 Z27, maybe there's an awaiting L78 somewhere in the bushes. |
Re: Another Trip to the Yard
My money is on Kudzoo! I saw an abandoned barn in South Carolina
that got totally covered in three years. Looks just like the car mounds, just a lot bigger. That stuff is out of control. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif BTW, if you're going to go in that stuff, do it in the winter before the bees get busy. Hate to see you get attacked while pulling that stuff off of a car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif |

Re: Another Trip to the Yard
That stuff is Kudzu. Actually it is very intersting stuff. It can grow over 12 inches a day. I have several photos of cars, and old farmhouses that have been swallowed up by that stuff .

Kudzu - Pueraria montana var. lobata
Kudzu occurs statewide (NC) and is on the The Nature Conservancy's Worst Invasives List for the Piedmont, Sandhills, and Coastal Plain. Kudzu is a fast-growing, vigorous, drought-tolerant deciduous climbing vine with large, distinctive, three-lobed leaves and hairy stems. Its flowers are pea-like, purple and fragrant. Its fruit is a dark brown pod. The tap root may be 6 feet or longer, 7 inches or more in diameter, and weigh 400 pounds. As many as 30 vines may grow from a single root crown. Kudzu spreads from runners and rhizomes and vines that root at the nodes. Spread by seed is also reported. A serious invader of seminatural or natural habitat. Kudzu forms large impenetrable masses, growing over woody vegetation and completely engulfing unwooded areas. Kudzu kills trees by completely shutting out light, girdling woody stems and tree trunks, breaking branches or uprooting entire trees and shrubs from the sheer weight. I was going to suggest Napalm to get rid of it, but thats not something you should type into your web browser. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif |
