A Happy Ending for ZL-1 #40 ?
It appears that one of the members here has discovered the original engine to car #40. That's the car that was restored by Scott Tieman and belongs to the owner of HeartBeat City. This NOM car has been offered for sale a few times over the years for well over 1,000,000.00 . Now if a deal can be worked out, the car can get back it's original motor which has been in the same location for the past 37 years less than 40 miles or so from where the car was sold new back in the day. This is just amazing plus the motor is all intact and has never been blown up.

Re: A Happy Ending for ZL-1 #40 ?
I think that Jim is afraid to spend the money to get the motor.

Re: A Happy Ending for ZL-1 #40 ?
what is a fair price for the original block?
|
Re: A Happy Ending for ZL-1 #40 ?
Ah, an interesting question, what's it worth....if I owned this engine I would probably try to figure out what the owner of #40 would charge me if I owned the car and he owned the engine. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

A) the original car shipper recieved by Complete Auto Transit on Mar. 7,1969...consigned to Gibb Chev...and signed for and recieved Mar. 11 at the dealership with truck #,etc... B) the original dealer copy of the Car Shipper (shows options and prices) but non-dated C) Original loading memo on Gibb Letterhead certifiing that this car was loaded on Truck # xxxxxx "..to be hauled to Norwood Plant" dated May 24,1969 at 6:00 PM and signed by the driver... D) Copy of original MSO dated June 25,1969..from Chevrolet Motor Division...Norwood Ohio...to Govan's Chev. Baltimore Maryland... It's interesting that the car only sat 2 and a half months before it got sent back to Chevy...Gibb must have already know that they were not going to sell well. Imagine, base price on this car was 2727.00 dollars..with very few options..7269.35 dollars with the options..4160.15 for the ZL-1 option alone!!! This car did not sell until finally in June of 1970!!! And for a measly 4800 bucks!! Still a lot of 1969 money. Boy did the dealer take a loss on this car!! |

Re: A Happy Ending for ZL-1 #40 ?
The original motor for #57 is laying in eastern KY.I think this is the right # anyway. It was a daytona yellow car sold out of Brewer Chevrolet in Ky.I will be over there again this weekend.I will look and make sure I am telling this right.

Re: A Happy Ending for ZL-1 #40 ?
Yes the engine for the yellow one is in Ky but they won't sell it.

Re: A Happy Ending for ZL-1 #40 ?

Re: A Happy Ending for ZL-1 #40 ?
So what's the deal with the # 40 block anyway?? Who owns it?? How much was he asking for it?? Must be a lot if Jim didn't buy it.What's up with it now?? Is it really worth anything "extra" to anyone beside the owner of the car?? Very small market at top dollar I would think ???
Anyone know?? |
Re: A Happy Ending for ZL-1 #40 ?
Or maybe Jim should become more reasonable with the price of his car and sell the car to the owner of the Block!!!

Whats up with all the air cleaner seals inside out?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: A Happy Ending for ZL-1 #40 ?
That might just be one of the ones that looks inside out but isn't. Correct tires would be nice though.

Re: A Happy Ending for ZL-1 #40 ?
The auction shows a pic of the block but does not state that it comes with the car.

[/ QUOTE ] When the auction was first listed they mentioned that the original block was available and they would give contact info to the buyer of the car. Looks like they changed the description to delete that. James |
Re: A Happy Ending for ZL-1 #40 ?
My circa 1999 GM seal looks like that one. If there's a way to invert it, I'll be damned if I can figure it out.

Re: A Happy Ending for ZL-1 #40 ?
