Million dollar project car?!
70 440 six barrel Cuda ragtop in need of bigtime restoration...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plymouth-...1QQcmdZViewItem |
Re: Million dollar project car?!
Im not up on values for these cars so i dont know if its a good price or not ,but its crazy that for 1M you get a car needing a full resto and you dont even get a 426 hemi.
|
Re: Million dollar project car?!
I only saw one car in the ad....shouldn't there be 2 or 3 for that price ?
|
Re: Million dollar project car?!
Where is that shaker hood?
John. |
Re: Million dollar project car?!
The shaker was an option on the 440 six barrel, standard on the hemi.
|
Re: Million dollar project car?!
I'm guessing it will be restored with a shaker...

Re: Million dollar project car?!
NADA has high value for this car at $176,000. Where is the one that sold for over $2 million as stated in the eBay ad? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Who's looks at NADA?

Re: Million dollar project car?!
I do not believe anything I see on Ebay. You put a car on there. Have your friends bid on it. Suddenly, all 70 Cuda convertibles are worth $700,000!!
You have to love the Private Auction. |

Who's looks at NADA? Jason [/ QUOTE ] Obviously I do, Jason. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif Says a 69 Z is worth $80,000, a ZL1 is worth $880,000, and a 440-6 barrel cuda convert is worth $176,000. While a ZL-1 at $880,000 might be considered a bargain, I don't think the 'Cuda would be. JMHO -Sam |
Re: Million dollar project car?!
No mention of original drivetrain. Car looks to have been ridden very hard and definitely put away WET. There is some sort of support bracket for a modified fuel tank/cell going between the leaf springs... or maybe its a rear sway bar? A car with a motor and drivetrain like this and 70K + miles will be hard pressed to make it this far with "everything" intact. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif With all that rust on the car, I'm sure he mistook this 440 for an elephant! Hence the stratospheric predictions for sale price https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif
All this aside, it will be a terrific car if it gets the resto it deserves. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif |
Re: Million dollar project car?!
I'd love to know what he paid for the POS. If I found that car I'd keep it. I love the color.

Frame boxes are rusted away. The $2,000,000 sale was a hemi ragtop at BJ last year. This guy is delusional and is obviously shill bidding pre-Barrett Jackson to get someone to buy it. Actual value is probably around $200,000 in its present condition. Great color combination of B7 blue and white interior but the car is going to need major $$$ invested. |

to quote a fella .........where's the next one??? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif at least it's mostly there

Re: Million dollar project car?!
E Bait is out of control and in no way represents the real world. There is nothing in place to verify that any of the sales, buyers or sellers are for real. It would not surprise me if the person listing this car has interest in a similar vehicle being sold at an up coming real auction. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif

Re: Million dollar project car?!
A buddy of mine just went and looked at an original owner 440 six barrel hardtop 70 Cuda recently. Beach area car and rusted beyond saving. The guys says: "I've had it all these years and its been stored inside. At Barrett Jackson these are going for a couple hundred thousand. All I want is $80,000." We told him that storing it inside, at a beach house, on concrete was about the same as storing it in a salt water tank. He still thought it was "Barrett Jackson quality!!??" To save that car you'd have to invest about $300,000 in the resto in order to get $200,000 for the car. The guy just didn't get it. The only that wasn't rusted through was the original window sticker.

"I'd love to know what he paid for the POS. If I found that car I'd keep it. I love the color." If its the car I think it is, it was purchased from long time owner for well under $100K. Who know how many hands it has past thru since. It was found about two years ago. |

Re: Million dollar project car?!
hey Jerry, I used to live in Clinton Coners, Slate Quarry Road maybe? does that sound right? it was pre school, in the previous century.
|
Re: Million dollar project car?!
I'm sure not much has changed. I know Slate Quarry Road, ol' county rd 19. It's actually paved now! Big news here is the town meeting to consider a Nextel cell tower. Rotary phones went out last year. You haven't missed much. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif

They were public relations promotional/show cars. |

Re: Million dollar project car?!
Back in the early 80's when I was in process of restoring my Hemi Challenger, one of the few things missing from the car when I bought it was the radiator (p/n 2998956, funny how something like that sticks in my mind after so many years https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif). After searching for a couple years for one, I found it up in Grand Rapids MI from a guy who was parting out a Panther pink 70 Cuda 440-6 convertible https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif Bet he wishes he had that to do over again https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/stupid.gif
