firewall code question
I recently purchased a black 69 camaro ss rs redstripe , black vinyl top camaro from its original owner. Its all original, even paint. Its a 396/ 375 hp 4spd car M21 4:10. It has cowl induction and spoilers and it has the silver grill with black rubber bumper. The question: On the fire wall there is B L K C X or its B L K 6 X. What does the C X or 6 X mean? It looks like the B L K ? X was written all at the same time with the same white marker. Very curious if anyone knows.

Re: firewall code question
BLK is the black paint, the 6X should correspond to an 'X66' code on your trim tag.

Re: firewall code question
Welcome aboard Bob... Awesome car! Can't wait to see it in person... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Re: firewall code question
cowl tag says x22d80 though. Maybe its a C X?
I would have to take a regulator off to see if its a true C or 6 because its bolted over that letter or number. The B L K and the X are totally visible. |
Re: firewall code question
Bob is it written just over or to the right of the heater box? Is that the cowl induction switch in the way... My 69 Z has RGP ("Rally Green Paint). John P. has WHT on his pace car. Can you shoot a pic?

Re: firewall code question
Hmmm. Any chance its a 3X? = Triple black?
|
Re: firewall code question
Yes its by the heater box. Maybe that switch is for the cowl induction that is covering up the character which I can only guess what it is. It won't be easy to photograph but will try.

Re: firewall code question
If it is a CX code, it would be for the HD 400 turbo, right??
Are you positive that it wasn't a factory auto? Just a thought, not trying to start anything. Eric |
Re: firewall code question
I now feel like a total idiot. It says B L A C K. I took a high power LED light and looked at it in detail, rubbed of some dust. They wrote out the whole word and here I thought it was a 3 letter color code. The protecto plate show JH motor (not an auto) and the color on the cowl tag is 10 B. If someone has to see a picture of the word written out, I can do that. Many appolgies.

Re: firewall code question
Sounds right, we've seen the color abbreviated like Darren's, and completely written out like yours.

Re: firewall code question
Post some photos of your car...if you don't mind. Sounds like a great looking car. Black is one of my favorite colors, especially on 69 Camaros. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: firewall code question
Bob,
John Platania told me about your car...I can`t wait to see it...John said it`s very cool. Congrats on a Bowtie purchase instead of a Mopar for a change https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif Dan. |
Re: firewall code question
thanks for the compliments (the website won't let me post pictures yet) and yes, I am cutting back on mopar black hole I have been in. I am selling a 71 triple black cuda to pay for this car if that accounts for some redemption....

If that picture was taken around the Chicago area, it had to be either early last month or in a previous winter https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif I agree, nice car! |
Re: firewall code question
Just curious.....Was a cowl hood the correct hood for a SS/RS. I thought it was flat with the fake injector look hood. I'm dumb sometimes
|
Re: firewall code question
I learned the cowl hood and rubber bumper were options on top of an rs/ss.
|
Re: firewall code question
The ZL/2 hood could be had on any SS as an option from the factory, but the fake stacked hood was standard...BKH https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
