Re: MECUM Kansas City this coming weekend...
Hodges and I are going to hang out on Saturday. Anyone else that is going, PM me your cell number. Word to the wise, if you are coming, get a room in advance. Saturday night will be the Big 12 championship game at Arrowhead. Could make rooms a little scarce. 2 of the local casino's are within spitting distance of the event.

Re: MECUM Kansas City 70 L78 Camaro?
Is it possible that this is the HO L78 that was for sale during the summer? Anyone know what this went for? If someone is there check the VIN...

Re: MECUM Kansas City 70 L78 Camaro?
Gorgeous well done car, top to bottom. I don't recall the VIN but it had L78 designated on the trim tag, so I would say that it had to be a Norwood car.
The high bids seemed to come from other dealers with the intent to resell and they were very strong, for wholesale bids, IMO but not enough. The car didn't sell across the block. |
Re: MECUM Kansas City 70 L78 Camaro?
Ok so its definetly a different one then. How high did it go? How did the storm impact the auction? Was supposed to be pretty bad down there as well.

Re: MECUM Kansas City 70 L78 Camaro?
Darren.... I think this is one of the cars you were asking about. Joe Cheeks owns this car and it is on his website right now. He has a small muscle car dealership in TN somewhere. He also take alot of his cars to the Mecum auctions both here in IL and to KC. Here's the link to the L78 Camaro on his site http://www.e-automania.com/gallery/m...?g2_itemId=239

Re: MECUM Kansas City 70 L78 Camaro?
I believe it was approx $70,000ish and the Auctioneer announced that it would take $80,000.00 to buy it that day.
He did sell his paint code 67 Burgundy 1969 Z28 for $72,500.00 plus fees. Lots of no shows, both cars and people due to the weather. I drove down. They had to close the interstate. It was a mess. |
Re: MECUM Kansas City 70 L78 Camaro?
Stefano,
Sorry I missed you. Hodges and I rolled in to look at things on Friday afternoon as cars were coming in. It was amazing the number of cars that came in on open carriers and how much of a mess they were! That L78 was definately a jem and I was guessing 70 to 80 would be the money for that car. How did the Nomad do? |
Re: MECUM Kansas City 70 L78 Camaro?
Stefano: you are definitely *HARDCORE* if you drove through that mess...we just got brushed by it, and it shut everything here down...

Re: MECUM Kansas City 70 L78 Camaro?
I took the Audi Quattro instead of the Suburban and just motored thru all the snow and ice. I have never seen so many cars, trucks 4x4s and rigs off the road and stuck in the snow.
The snow was so deep that once you were off the road you were about done. There were rescue/tow vehicles everywhere. The Nomad did OK/$70K based on the circumstances. Just not enough to cut it loose, so it is still for sale. |

OK, Now I know which L78 this is. It’s the Colorado car. I am not sure if this car the original DriveTrain or not.
when sold it had a 454 in it but came with a L78 block. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat...&PHPSESSID= |
Re: MECUM Kansas City 70 L78 Camaro?
I thought that to Mark but it is not. The auction car is a Norwood car and the Colorado car was an LA car...
