Slightly rough 72 Trans Am on ebay
Not mine, but here's a minor resto project for someone: A 72 Trans Am, 4 speed a/c, white w/blue interior, full option car. Looks like everything is there except for the $2000+ carburetor. It even has the unique 455 H/O-only, rear a/c compressor bracket still in place on the intake. It will be easy. Just buy it and follow along with my 2 years of postings. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: Slightly rough 72 Trans Am on ebay
Steve, I can't find the auction, it must have ended. It was at over $1,000 when I was looking at.

Re: Slightly rough 72 Trans Am on ebay
hmm, if all of those sit outside the shed....

Re: Slightly rough 72 Trans Am on ebay
The car is pretty much all there and has not been shade tree'd yet... that's half the battle!

Re: Slightly rough 72 Trans Am on ebay
WOW… Was that car submerged in a Swamp…
That would make a nice Project for someone who does not have a lot of money to initially lay out; Has a lot of spare time and is good with their hands. |
Re: Slightly rough 72 Trans Am on ebay
I can't believe that it sat in a field for 27 years and nobody stripped it! If that field was in Florida the salt air would have taken everything that the thieves missed.

Re: Slightly rough 72 Trans Am on ebay
The rough and rusty white one just went for $17,600. It went from $8000 to $17,600 in the last 30 seconds. Looks like there are a bunch of last minute snipers out there!

Re: Slightly rough 72 Trans Am on ebay
Gotta love ebay dealers:
"Unrestored, not running. Missing right cylinder head, intake manifold, carburetor, and air cleaner. Clear title. Very few unrestored 1972 Trans Ams left! A rare chance to own one of these cars." Let me get my calculator... Original color code: 11 11 = white, not blue one 7F6 cyl head... $1000 Intake manifold and heat risers... $1500 Carburetor... $2000 Air cleaner and shaker unit... $2000 eternally optimistic seller...priceless https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: Slightly rough 72 Trans Am on ebay

Re: Slightly rough 72 Trans Am on ebay
Give me first dibs! What's your carb's part number? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
If I recall correctly wasn't your 72 the nice one from a while back on ebay that was sold new here in NJ back in 72?? Seriously though, the Pontiac stuff like carbs, distributors, intakes etc., have gone crazy simply because the 72 model year was cut in half due to the UAW strike. But all the date code correct Pontiac stuff from the rare cars, especially the RAIV's and 455HO's are getting (have gotten) really expensive. I cant stress it enough if your'e going to buy one of these Pontiacs make sure it's complete. Mine was 98% complete minus correct carb and distibutor and I paid $1000 for a restored, correct, original 1972 build-date, 4-speed 7042273 carb 2 years ago and $550 for the correct 1112126 distributor last year (it was the only one I've ever seen for sale) |
Re: Slightly rough 72 Trans Am on ebay
Steve, that was the one. I got a spare 455HO block, heads, intake, and exhaust manifolds with it. I'm still searching for the correct AC bracket though.

Re: Slightly rough 72 Trans Am on ebay
Here's another very rusty 72 T/A 455 HO with auto, a/c for sale, no reserve. Looks like original motor (maybe). At least it has the original 7F6 round port heads and intake and even the impossible-to-find 455HO rear a/c bracket. Very late VIN number, maybe one of the last to leave the factory before the GM strike ended the 72 model year in April 72.
