1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
No, it's not mine. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif Dont know anything about it but I just ran across it on ebay. This is one that was not on anyone's radar. Green on green, 426 hemi, automatic, original owner. Check out the whitewalls and the cadillac hubcaps! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
I guess the numbers go up one now to 6 automatics and 10 four speeds known to have been produced. And the VIN indicates it was built about 80 cars after mine! $300,000 starting bid! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=200022858404 |

Owner should find a photographer to post some good photos. OR, is there plenty to hide ?

Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
I know which one's worth more now,but I wonder what he paid more for-the car or his house?

I love the one of him standing by the car. He looks like the local butcher with his apron on. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
He just posted some more photos this evening. It's the real deal: "A47" is the code for the SE package. That's the original fender tag with the inspector's stamps on it and its unique factory mounting screws: one painted and one natural. As the cars went down the painting assembly line the tag was mounted with the front screw only and bent up for the inspectors to place their crimped inspection stamp on the tag - the "v" and the "11". You can even see the crease by the front screw where it was bent up. No repro here. F8 Green with no vinyl top. It was built a day after my car: Tuesday Dec 9, 1969. The interior is immmaculate: Green Leather! Nice dirty, untouched engine compartment. It even has its original battery cable still. What a time machine. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
I would say the local photographer finally came meat shopping. -- WOW nice interior, that rear seat appears it's never been used. 300k should enable him to hang up that apron.

Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
Sorry for being both stupid and uninformed are you guys saying that only about 16 HEMI Chargers were produced in 1970? Why the reduction from 432 HEMI Chargers built in 1969? Lack of interest?

Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
Les, Steve in referring to the # of Hemi's Chargers that have both the R/T and the SE options. There were many more built with just the RT option. Hope this clears it up for you.

Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
To answer your questions Les, the numbers dropped probably due to the introduction of the Cuda and Challenger, and the hefty price of the Charger. As for production, the Dodge Boys made 112 Hemi Chargers in 1970: 56 four speeds and 56 automatics. And in anticipation of your next question, no, they didn't plan that exact same number for each tranny combination, it just worked out that way. Of those 112 built, 15 (now 16, broken down into 10 four speeds and 6 automatics) were the option upon an option R/T-SE (think of a Z-28 with the Rally Sport option as a GM equivilent) The SE gave you a bunch of luxury additions such as the leather interior and real artificial woodgrain on everything. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
Steve,
Thanks for the thoroughness of your reply I learned a lot reading all your posts on this car. I always wondered why one screw on the fender tag was painted and the other not? What do you think a car like this is worth? |
Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
Absolutely friggin amazing........... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

What do you think a car like this is worth? [/ QUOTE ] Thanks for the compliment sir. Value: this would be one of those value inestimable situations: original owner since day one, unrestored, bulletproof provenance. $300K would be a bargain. You can find Hemicudas all day since they made 652 of them but this is a unique car. BTW here is the breakdown we currently have on the 16 cars, including this one. While any of the 25+ body colors were available, as you can see, they only made 3 leather interiors available for the SE package, green, tan, and a metallic black called charcoal. 1970 HEMI CHARGER R/T-SE with Automatic trans: green w/green leather interior tan w/ tan leather interior black w/ charcoal leather interior orange w/ charcoal leather interior yellow w/ charcoal leather interior blue w/ charcoal leather interior (Canadian Export) 1970 HEMI CHARGER R/T-SE with four speed: red w/ charcoal leather interior (mine) orange w/ tan leather interior orange w/ charcoal leather interior orange w/ charcoal leather interior dark green w/ charcoal leather interior green w/ tan leather interior limelight w/ charcoal leather interior yellow w/ charcoal leather interior yellow w/ tan leather interior tan w/ tan leather interior |

Steve, Very interesting find! I bet you almost fell of your chair when you saw it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif I marked the auction to see the fun. $300K is reserve not met, bet reserve is at least double that. Who ever did that auction did a real nice job for a first timer!

Very nice car. That one would be really cool to research and go through. Finding the original build sheet would make the hair stand up on your neck.
That one may set a record . https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |
Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
I emailed the seller and it took about three emails to get an answer to the question as to whether he was the guy who walked into the Dodge dealer in 1970 and bought the car new???? I kept getting "we are the original owners" or "it is a one owner car". But finally did get an affirmitve response. One owner car is a term tossed around a lot and evidently has various meanings to people so I was looking for a straight forward answer.
I also asked for an itemized list of the paperwork on the car or some pictures of the paperwork and pictures of the undercarriage. I get the impression that 300K to the sellers is just the start of the negotiations? |

That happens to be one of my biggest gripes, too......apparently many people think it means that at some point in the car's life it had only one owner (as opposed to being owned by multiple people at once https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif). It's really pathetic when you have to ask for a crystal clear explanation of a term which really shouldn't require one https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif |
Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
Les,I agree--so many of these brokers call a car "one owner" because they have the car still titled in the name of the original owner. Meanwhile, several other people may have exchanged cash for the car in question, which says to me that the car has had more than one owner by then.

Steve, What do you think a car like this is worth? [/ QUOTE ] I remember reading in Mopar Action a few months back that the original owner of a 70 R/T Hemi-Charger was reunited with his car at some show. He was looking to purchase the car back from the current owner. Car was restored and incredible. Top Bananna if I rememver right. I'm not sure if it was one of the few RT/SE cars. He made an offer of 500K and was quickly turned down! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif I think Steve is right that 300K would be a bargain for this car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif I can't believe what I just wrote (a bargain). Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
That car you're talking about is one of the yellow with charcoal interior cars documented above in my list. It did eventually sell, but unfortunately, not back to it's original owner. So I can't even imagine what it went for...
I took mine for a little cruise on Sunday. She's still a haunted car. I never have a problem starting her up. Just click the key and she's a runnin. This time I turn the key, it just goes click. I open the hood, twist the battery cables to get a better contact, close the hood and try again...CLICK, I open the hood adjust the cables again and CLICK. The third time's a charm and it starts but being that I have lived with this Banshee for 20 years I know when she's trying to tell me something. Sure enough I get a mile down the road and then I remember: If forgot to retighten the radiator cap when I checked the fluid level the last time I parked it. I pull over, pop the hood and tighten the cap and no more problems. I then stomped on the gas pedal and she was all happy again...til I remembered what I paid for that 110 octane Turbo Blue. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |
Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
Ask him for pictures of the passanger quarter and a close up of the front fender. Car needs a TOTAL resto..
You dont want to hear my opinion !! I dont need a cup of coffee for this one. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif |
Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
Maybe the guy will throw in a can of Hills Brothers for Rich.

Re: 1970 Hemi Charger R/T-SE on ebay
If this guy is the original owner, I hope he makes a fortune on it and retires with the money. I can't think of a better person to cash in than the individual that owned it for all these years.
