Thanks for sharing, hopefully it'll be removed from ebay before someone gets a chance to buy it.

Bryan,
Unfortunately, Ebay's current policy is to ALLOW cowl tags to be listed. They say those tags do not contain "vehicle specific information" like a VIN. They are wrong of course, because no two vehicles would have the same body number. I've mentioned that to them twice already and so have others, but they have yet to change the policy. They even allow the listing of BLANK tags, made to order by our "friend" in Lubbock, TX.

Re: trim tag on ebay

I don't believe it's a waste of time to try to keep track of these at all. Sooner or later it WILL show up again on a car. Wouldn't it be good and serve the "hobby" well if it's history was known? We are ALL policemen of our hobby if we choose to be. It's our choice; do we want to be cops or robbers?................ https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Whether we like it or not, our hobby has divided itself between those lines. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

PS: for example, there's a dbase now that contains over 5000 '58-'64 Chevys, as they were when they first surfaced, to compare to how they might be when they surface again. As for the Supercars, it may be doggone late to start now, but if not now...when?

Re: trim tag on ebay

Maybe we should have a place here to post loose tags only. Then it would be easy to check befor you buy your camaro.

HawaiianCamaro - Great idea!!!

I for one do not think it's a waste of time to keep track of these loose cowl and vin tags that we see floating around out there. If we help one person not spend his/her money on a bogus car with bogus tags then, in my opinion, it's been worth it. I still can't believe that eBay has a policy which allows VIN tags to be sold, https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Nice going Jeff! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
I'd like to see your web site as a clickable link on this site for people to check before going to buy a car.

Re: trim tag on ebay

IMHO I think it might be better to keep it off the radar for a couple reason: 1) keep the tag makers from having even more examples of correct and fake tags, i.e. make them work harder for the info 2) the cloners check sites like this and a clickable link would make it all the easier for them

Recommend you just save it as a favorite.

BTW great job Jeff!!
