Re: GT-37
Pontiac IL is a small close knit community, and I believe they have a fairly active car club there. Might try contacting City Hall to see if you can get contact info for someone in the Car Club. Good luck https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Re: GT-37
If it's the bronze post car with the white painted top, it is a T-37 and not a GT-37. It's owned by Dan Jensen of MI. I believe they made 11 of 'em. The same engine in the GT-37 is 54 made, which is the most HOs they made in the A-body next to the GTO (about 700 or so)
The '70.5 GT-37 is quite enigmatic next to the '71s and are a rare breed. |
Re: GT-37
We have a slightly warmed over 1970 455 in our '72 Lemans Sport. It's rated at 360 hp and 500 ft/lb of torque. It feels much like our old L72 Chevelle motor in the low and mid range. I can only imagine the same car with a 455 HO. The Pontiacs are much overlooked but can make quite a decent performer on the street.

Re: GT-37
my uncle didnt remember the car specifically but he gave me the name of the local pontiac guru from the day. email to you. good luck.

April 1971 is picture date. Morning after I picked up car. It was a special order by me. Lived in Kodiak, AK at the time. About 125 miles on car. Attached picture is October 1971 in Freemont, CA across the freeway from where it was built. no tune up, junk in the trunk, later found out no HO cam just 4bbl cam still mph'd at 104. Really bad run as I had never raced at the track before. Just some of that stop light grand prix.
No cid call outs as factory made mistake. Here is another one from same era. Yes, it is in my possession undergoing restoration. 455HO, 4 speed, posi, sport suspension, carpets, ralley guages w/clock, dual exhaust (only required option), vinyl interior and AM radio as we only had AFRTS available there. I am on the road and had troubles logging on so sorry for the delay in the reply. I think if you do a search under my user name or T-37 you can find more info/pictures. |
Re: GT-37
JLP, I only see 1 pic. Looks like at a drag strip. Also could not find any other info on it through search. I distincly remember seeing a blue GT 37 car 455HO 4 speed somewhere. Magazine???

Re: GT-37
Here is a photo I took of a GT-37 earlier this year at a cruise in central Alberta. I don't know much about it, but I seem to remember it as a 400/auto car. It seemed to be a very high quality restoration.

Hey John, seeing you're an Alberta lad do you know if the Calgary "Jury" post cars were built on a T37/GT37 or what? . I don't know a whole lot about them...they were '70 only right? . https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif ~ Pete |
Re: GT-37
I actually bought the post car because it was about $50 cheaper than ht and used that to buy the AM radio. I was going as cheap as possible but getting the most bang for the buck. Had no clue how unique it would be. Thrashed it, sold it then had opportunity about 10 yrs later bo buy back. I put the story here if you want to go read it.
http://forums.performanceyears.com/f...d.php?t=488831 If you do any searches there on the PY forum in the 70-72 GTO/Tempest/LeMans area there is plenty of good information there. |

Re: GT-37
I know that the GT-37's are'nt as popular as the Judge but will the 70 GT-37's ever be worth anything? It seems that you can pick up these cars for resonable prices.I own a 70 GT-37 with the WT 400 4speed.And even though the car is very rare it seems that the popularity of the car is very low.Any comments?

Re: GT-37
Give them some time; I would bet that as the more desirable GTO's become out of reach for the average guy these GT-37's will increase in value as more people discover them.
