Other Muscle....

I know they are not American made but I still consider them serious muscle...they are getting loaded today in Ohio and will be coming west to their new home with me ! I may even break one out for the Wine Country Classic at Sears Point in two weeks...

Van, you're a sick man....I love it! . Great move w/ the Porsches....having Hans Stuck's 962 is unreal! . Is this an '86 chassis and is it the one Stuck crashed at Daytona? . Love to see any detail shots you can share....chassis, engine, anything....tags-identification would be too cool! . I haven't forgotten that PM I owe you. .

At Daytona Stuck had an accident 29 laps into the race on the bank in what sounds like a rare driver error . He had qualified the car 5th out of the field of 69 cars that started the race. It is chassis 962 113. He redeemed himself a month later at the Sebring 12 hour race when he went head to head with Derek Bell in the middle hours of the race eventually forcing Bell to make a mistake and over took 1st place...plus my car lost a center lock wheel twice during the race and still managed to win averaging a 116 mph for 12 hours . That is why I never use a air gun on my center locks.. a big manual torque multiplier wrench only !

Great stuff Van! . You're so right w/ rare errors by Stuck....he's a pretty flawless driver and has spent a lot of time in the 962s. .
I see Jackie Ickx & Jo Gartner's name in the one 962 pic....these are older shots? . What year was Gartner's fatal ride at Lemans? On the 935....is this Akin's Kremer K3 car? . What's next on the list....a 917 maybe? . ~ Pete |

Gartner fatal accident was June 1st,1986 at Le Mans..May 26, 1986 he was in my 962 finishing 6th over all at Lime Rock. Here is a good bio on Gartner and it mentions he won Sebring in my car crossing the finish line with only three wheels ...shame , great driver http://www.grandprix.com/gpe/drv-garjo.html
A 917.. I wish. There is one for sale . It has little history but it is still close to 2 million dollars. My 935 is " The Last 935 " and is the tube frame car that FabCar built for Akin at the end of 1983. Unreal Van! . A serious congrats on your purchases....it's nice to see someone w/ their priorities straight!!!? . So what 917 is for sale? . Although any and all are great, the 917 Can-Am cars are still ringing in my ears....35 years later!!! .

The purple car with the green graphics. See attached photo . You can see it in the movie Le Mans with Steve McQueen. I saw it in 2001 when I raced a Daytona. It is a beautiful car.. known as the hippie car

Jeff,
That is the long tail.. I am not sure if the short and long tail are two seperate cars or one car with different tail sections.I saw the car on display in 200 or 2001 when I raced at Daytona . I do know that the 917 will run the Mulsanne straight at 225-245 mph .. hour in and hour out for 24 hours ... unreal what some of those old race cars would do! |

Hey Van....although the 'Hippie' 917 paint is radical it's nothing compared to the 917 'Pig'....what a paint job that one had! .

It is going to be a struggle to make Monterey in August so I am trying to get the Coca~Cola 935 accepted as an alternate so I do not miss the event this year. The pig looks great....even better w/ age! . Where is it now....and that 98'ish Porsche GT piece in the pic w/ it looks good too! . It'd sure be nice to see and smell some live GT action again....last I saw was 1990 in Montreal, the only year they ran there. . It was all good....Benz paid my way and the Sauber cars were unbelievable to see live! . The greatest for me however was meeting Keke Rosberg. . He's a great guy and was debuting the Peugeot 905 which was wicked 'til it expired....that thing sounded like it was reving like 20'000 for sure? . The race ended early when J. Pereja's 962 sucked a manhole cover off the track surface and burned....talk about ground effects! . ~ Pete |

As of today cars are on display at Caesar's Place in Vegas now.There are some great muscle cars there too.
