'70 Z28 Engine Conpartment
1 Attachment(s)
I wanted to thank the guys from the site that helped me with the restoration of the engine conpartment, correct battery, fan shroud and all the other questions I had. Thanks Guys. Also for the motorcycle nuts out there like me, my good buddy rides this real XR750 on the street and it draws a crowd everywhere he goes. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Hey Hammer-
Your car looks great...but...can we have about 100 more pics of that XR??? Man-O-Man...!!!!! A real XR!!!!! What year is it? How did he get it licensed for the street? Don't think those even came with a title. Can't you just see them, flying down the back straight...chest on the tank, helmet bouncing, and left hand on the triple clamps!!!!!! A great motorcycle.......if it was a car, it would be a factory Hemi Dart. ktownkid |

Re: '70 Z28 Engine Conpartment
That Z28 looks good.Is the A.I.R. pump functional or gutted? Is it an LA built car?
I grew up with Jay Springsteen and Scotty Parker. Have had a few beers with Bart Markel. Still see them around once in a while. Them boys RODE the XR's. |
Re: '70 Z28 Engine Conpartment
The Z28 looks great Bart....nice work! .
XR750's are THE coolest HD! . Talk about a race bike that's all go....XR's were factory equipped w/ the ulitimate weight saving device....no brakes! . Good thing buddy has added some stopping power for the street! There's a fella near me that has a XR750 he's losing interest in. . It's a real one, a '75 I believe? . It has lots of Nos parts and is a static display roller now but w/ a few more internals could be a driver. . The cases are autographed by Mert Lawwill also Springsteen and a few more of the boys. . The guy with it would step aside for the approximate $25,000 he has into it or a Mopar trade. . ~ Pete |

Tony, good question... When I spoke with Jerry M. he explained the pros and cons of each. What is the set up on your Z? This Z? |
Re: '70 Z28 Engine Conpartment

Re: '70 Z28 Engine Conpartment
Tony,
I really don't know if the A.I.R. system is functional or not, how do you tell? I found the car complete as you see it other than the service carb that I got from ebay and had it rebuilt. I have been cleaning it up for the past couple of years with the help of this site and it's members. Yes it's a LA car with a 04A build date from Courtesy Chevrolet Center in San Diego, Ca and your favorite color 17 17. I'm going to sell it after the interior is finished and I'll offer it to the people on this site before I put it on ebay. Thanks https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |

Re: '70 Z28 Engine Conpartment
Nice Bart...Our cars are the same in many ways. Mine is 04A, 17-17 too. Same dealer too. I think to tell if the pump is working, you would check the discharge hose and see if any air was coming out? Sounds logical anyway.
I still need that elusive carb heat shield too. |

I'm no expert on the 1970 models, but shouldn't there be a "T" fitting and a vacuum line to the diverter valve for the SMOG system? 69 models had this provision. |
