Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
Looks like a nice car for the money. All you need to hit the open highway are some Jerry Reed 8 tracks and a CB radio. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
And Sally Field sprawled across the passenger seat.

Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
I have the Confederate flag license plate but I figured I would get shot so I took it off. I also thought about the CB antenna for the trunk but my wife killed that plan.

Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
I had the Georgia State Flag license plate on the front of my Porsche when I was in college... It was a real "attention getter" people found it hard to believe that I would have it on a German car...
But as Buford T Justice would say "The G D Germans ain't got nuttin to do with it." |

Sorry about the post but this is silly! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif NOW WERE CLONING TRANS AMS. Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
Lighten up Don, I just said it was a decent car for the money, which I believe it is... the ad is accurate, no ones trying to fool anyone, Its not even listed as a Trans-Am, and the very first sentence explains how the car originated. Besides that, the car looks pretty cool as a Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am. 7995.00 isn't alot of money for a nice running and driving car these days...Firebird, Trans Am or otherwise. Heck, a decent paint job can cost more than that. JMO. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
Ok Joe, I will lighten up but when I viewed the Ad it had the buy it now at 15,000! Thats why I said what I said. He changed it to 7995.00 just now! I just cant believe were cloning trans ams now. Sorry bout the post. Just having a bad day I guess. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
You must have been reading the wrong ad. My auction started out with a $100 bid to start and a $7995 buy-it-now.

Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
I would throw in a DVD of Smokey and The Bandit to the high bidder!! Looks like a fun car! Makes me want to go home and watch the movie!!

Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
Not a bad idea!
|
Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
It has just a $4000 reserve if anyone wants to bid.
|
Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
I'm with Don on this one; a 2nd generation "T/A" without a big block just doesn't seem to cut it. That said, it looks like a nicely detailed clone.

Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
In my book a 'big-block' is the original Chevy Mk1V! . Like a 'small-block is the original '55-up type w/ newer Gen motors needing further specific clarification. . Chevy W-motors, Buick, Olds, Pontiac etc. are all their own unique engines as the individual Ford or Mopars are and should be identified as so. . Many refer to any B-O-P engines when unknown as big blocks, blue blocks, red-blocks, gold-blocks....here in Canada a lot of guys used to call the unknowns as 'American blocks' especially the Pontiac motors as Canadian built Pontiacs had Chevy motors and an American built model would have the Poncho motor. . Pop the hood and call it what it is as there's only one true big-block....long live the King! .

Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
Pontiac only used one block for all the cubic inches, all the way up to the 455. There is no such thing as big and small blocks when referring to Pontiac. I guess they could be considered Uni-block.

Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
Actually the 79 T/A was availible with a 301 "small inch" engine that weighed almost a 100 lbs less than the "large inch" L78..semantics aside big block rolls off the tounge easier and has less phallic overtones. Oh yeah,it's a big incherhttps://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
same as AMC (uni-block)
|
Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
The car is only at $5000 with an end of tomorrow. Good deal at this price!!!
|
Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
So after 7 days and 4 emails that the buyer ignored me, he shows up this morning. Then points out some flaws that are clearly written in my auction and offers me $500 less than the winning bid or he'll pass! Can he even do this through Ebay? We argued a little and settled on $200 less than the auction bid just so I could get the car sold. Pissed me off though. What is your guy's thoughts?

Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
I agree. I told him that I didn't have much simpathy for him since he was high bidder for 7 days and only lives 100 miles away. He had plenty of time to drive down and look at the car before bidding.

Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
Here is Ebay's response.
Unfortunately, since you agreed to accept the lower price, there is nothing that we can do. I recommend leaving appropriate feedback. Thank you for your time. This is crap. The only negative feedback I have ever given, the guy gave me negative also just because I did so I know this guy will do the same and said so. So this is the deal, I give him negative, he gives me negative. What will probably happen though is that I will not leave him any and he will do the same. |
Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
If he refused to pay the amount he bid you could have reported him to Ebay as a non paying bidder. When you accepted a lower offer you changed the deal so you can no longer do that.
|
Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
Sure I could have turned him in, not have a sale and Ebay would tell him not to do it again. That's it. You have to get so many complaints like this before Ebay will suspend your account. I knew that so I knew that if I didn't make the deal I would get nothing and neither would he.
|
Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
I'd either leave him a neutral feedback and list what he did in the feedback or email him everyday to give you positive feedback and then leave him the neutral or negative feedback.
|
Re: 1978 Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am
Your last thought is probably the one I am going to do.
